Kick Ins

To be fair - Johncock is very good at kickins, he's been really good at it the last year or so.

The last two weeks though - no idea what is going on there. The TV shots from behind the goals are showing that there is noone to kick to. And that is the problem.

I think it may have more to do with the fact there is noone to kick it to!! I sat behind the goals on the weekend and I was trying to look for someone that stiffy could kick to but there was hardly ever a safe option.

Maybe we should employ Torney as the torp coach so we can just get that ball the hell out of there!! Also some variety at kick-ins might be a good idea

Re: kick-ins

This.

We are way, way too slow at setting up offensive kick ins. Probably the worst in the league.

Oh not as bad as Melbourne, they're terrible with kick ins. But its certainly an area that could probably be worked on a little more.

You could be right there. Melbourne seem to play most of their games either at the same time as us or on Channel 7 where i cant be bothered watching since i already know the result - hence i don't really see them much.

I just wish that Stiffy would kick to himself more often and go for a run - he's so quick that most players standing the mark would struggle to get him. This would enable us to kick the ball past the mass of opposition players on the 50m arc.

That would work if there was another option upfield he could kick to which doesn't always happens. Otherwise he will just kick to himself, run around in circles then kick to nobody or rush another point.

It's not all Stiffy or the other kicker outerer, it's the other lot who are too lazy to create an option.

quite simply our kick in tactics have not evolved as quickly as the opposition's to combat us.

they are ahead of the curve and stiffy has looked like a deer in the headlights at times.

we have a problem when we move it quickly out of the middle, because with our new run on game players aren't sure where to go, where to present deep middle to half forward.

not sure I see the kick ins as being a lot different. just more confusion when things don't go smoothly.
