Collingwood forward John Anthony hosts the first episode of ‘Training Time’ exclusively on CTV. Anthony teaches supporters how to kick a set-shot for goal, a skill he has mastered early on in his career.

The forward goes through what he thinks once he has marked the ball.

How many steps does he take? Where does he look when he lines up to the goals? How does he drop it?

These questions and more are answered by the accurate forward on this week’s CTV episode of ‘Training Time’.

Wonder if Buddy Watch the video;)

Story Here

That was great, so specific and fuss-potty. No wonder he never gets put off or distracted with all those little neuroses to remember and all that counting.

I love how the Adelaide goal was exactly as he described, seven walking steps, seven jogging steps and Kazow!

Nothing exceptional there at all, i was taught the ten steps ten jogs but otherwise perfect.

not a fan of spinning the ball though.

Hope trav, reid, dawes and a few others have spoken to Anthony about this skill

Beautiful routine.

Jack is soooooooooooooooo good in front of goal. Definately one of the best set shots at our club. You would be a fool to play him anywhere outside the forward line. He is a natural goal-kicker, something we want and need..

Cloke's problem is purely mental. Once he gets over those mental hurdles then he will kick far straighter than he has before.

Curved run up, slanted shoulder to his left and his lean back when kicking is all issues he needs to fix

That all stems from his mental side though. When he kicks straight he doesn't have those problems.

His lucky the six he missed in the warm up didn't count!!

They all missed a few in Practise and Warm Up and that what it's for

Well not in the season proper anyhow...

I'm surprised he didn't have his obligatory out of bounds on the full shot at goal in the first round. Averages at least one a game.

Not one of, but THE best set shot at the club. His accuracy up forward counteracts for the misses of everyone else.

In regards to the video, so simple, so easy, all he didn't mention was the ball drop (but you can't give all the secrets away).

Apart from his obvious kicking skills, the thing which most impresses me about JA is his self belief and the confident manner in which he addresses the camera.

He has some fine attributes and I think he will be a great player for us for a long time.

Jack has played 13 games for 27 goals, 7 behinds....................hard to fathom when you look at the expectation.

He will be good I'm sure.

Is it possible that Anthony could become a club captain sometime in the future?
