Kicking out after a point is scored against us has been nothing short of attrocius all season. When will Ratts realise that you should have your best defenders kicking out? Today we had around 10 or so different players kicking out, 5 of which shouldn't because their foot disposal isn't good enough.

The main problem though is they continute to KICK TO A BLOODY CONTEST IN OUR D50! What do they expect? If you kick the bloody ball to a 2-1 in our favour there is still a 30% chance they can mark, crumb and score a goal. It's getting absolutely rediculous - we lose valuable run, and most importantly GOALS by not setting up plays properly. Carrazzo even kicked a ball out on the full! I was ____ing ropable watching this happen again and again.

Ratts needs to teach the kids that EVERYONE needs to lead when kicking out, otherwise you get results like today. Hopefully there is improvement next week.

We don't seem to have a Plan B when the short kick doesn't work for us. Surely you would just kick it long to the ruckman, or a contest close to the boundary line.

We still have alot to learn, and this is one of them.

how about just play on like every other team?

Get the ball into our best users hands. Stevens, always precision, scotty, simmo, t-bird. The players that should NOT take kickouts include Carrots, waitey, Carlos and co. This is just silly.

I have been saying all year to everyone I know that we are the worst kicking-in side in the league. But I actually thought today was one of our better efforts (comparatively)...seem to get a few away pretty quickly into the middle of the ground, but this could have been as much Essendon's fault. I am wrong?

If everybody leads the D50 becomes so crowded all you do is lock the ball in the opposition 50.

fair point about the kickers needing to be our more skillfull players

the other problem we have is that we do not provide the kicker with enough options
we are very stagnate.

kicking out to a moving target is much easier than trying to kick to a stationary target as the moving target can make up more ground.

depends where they are leading to and when they lead do they stop and block up space?
or do they continue on thier bike and leave a space for a team mate?

we need more movement up the ground and we need to provide the kicker with more options.

some blocking would also help.

Watching yesterdays game, we were too slow kicking out. There were several times when Essendon's zone was ordinary but we took far to long to move the ball

We have been terrible kicking in all season and yesterday was no different.

It looks as though we are the only team that doesn't have a plan, or 2, or 3 for kick outs and we get exposed in this regard far too easily.

We give away too many easy shots at goal directly from kick outs and this really is unacceptable.

Guys like Waite, Setanta, Carrazzo, Thornton should not be kicking out. Kick outs should be left to our more skilled players that will have less chance of turning it over directly. Stevens, Simpson, Gibbs etc. should take all our kick ins.

We have to learn to move the ball quickly so that we can get a man free. Too often we kick to a contest that favours the opposition to send it straight back in to the forward 50. This is where guys with stronger bodies (Cloke, Waite) need to stand up. Get to the contest, run wide and provide a strong option for the person kicking out. Don't leave it to the likes of Murph, Eddie etc. to contest for the ball in that situation.

We really need to work on these, and quickly. Each and every week we give up a few goals directly resulting from kick-ins and as the season progresses it becomes unacceptable.

oxymoron?
sarcasm aside... i thought the break from the centre to the small man (simpson) was good, however can be easily closed off with a lose oposition player on either flank
