Normally you've got 2-3 of McGinnity/Butler/Swift/Shepheard playing - he'd be ahead of them & pretty close to A Selwood IMHO.

Yeah, they've all got different roles so there'd be some adjustments/swapping required, but the crux of it is Howlett has improved into a very good footballer in his own right this year.
Wins plenty of clearances, tackles like mad, and helps out on the run & carry side of things too.

Of course, "herp derp rookie = spud" is alive & well.

Howlett isn't far superior to Butler/Selwood. I wouldn't imagine WC recruiting a player is on par/slightly ahead. Draft picks would be more sought after.

That said... I don't rate Stevens. He was supposed to be dominating the track over pre-season and made no impact at all.

What draft pick range do you guys think he is worth?

Or what type of players would you want in a trade?

He has been playing well in the wafl for the sharks and is one of the reasons why the sharks have made the wafl grandfinal this year.. He is a outside chance to win the sandover medal tonight.. He should poll well..

I still think the eagles may have a big crack at the mini draft and may try and package up 1st pick (20ish), Mitchell Brown and Koby Stevens. I dont think GWS want too many more early picks, I think they would like to get players that could just step straight in and have an impact rather than just settling for a couple more top 10 picks.

what i think he is worth would be 20-30. Because he's going home etc we will be more likely to get a 30-40 which is fair enough i guess.
True, but if a few clubs chase him 20-30 would not be out of the question imo.

We will only get stiffed if, like Ebert, he only nominates one club.

Koby Stevens for Sharrod Wellingham.
Pies get inside grunt (sadly lacking when ball went down) and Eagles get some outside run.
An exchange of picks would need to happen as well.

Maybe Tom Roach is a better option?

UPDATE: GEELONG and North Melbourne lead the early chase for out-of-favour West Coast youngster Koby Stevens, who has struggled to get into the Eagles line-up this season despite promising form in the WAFL.
Stevens has exceptional leadership qualities and is one that may benefit from a return home to Victoria. He is uncontracted for next season.

Where's that story from?

That would be thereabouts imo, especially if he's decided he's leaving. WCE would also be looking at upgrading our draft position, such as swapping picks etc.

The kid would be worth a stab at pick 35.

I haven't followed him too closely, what is the reasoning behind his lack of game time? Too inside? Kerr and Priddis are keeping him out?

Spot on. Quite a few WC supporters (myself included) hope he stays. I think he will turn into a good / very good footballer, but given he is an inside mid, Kerr, Priddis and Scott Selwood are keeping him out at this stage.

Yeah he's competing with Kerr and Priddis for the inside mid position. Unfortunately he can't really play any other position. Could be ok on a forward flank but with our tall forward structure we couldnt really afford to take out a more agile player such as Hill

I'd like to try and do
Eagles 1st round + Stevens for Melbourne pick 13

Pick 13 would hopefully secure us Garlett

Koby Stevens missed quite a few games compared to the others, only played in 12 games.

I could see that happening, certainly we need to target mids and I certainly think he's capable.

Wonder whether our 2nd rounder (36ish) would get it done or what else WC might look for?
