Let's say we with the 1st 2 Rounds we Draft Mids and Go with a Defender in the 3rd Round, These are my 3 Favourites to Pick for us. I will give my Reasons

Post:
Overage Player who won the Best and Fairest for the Western Jets as a Overage 19 year old. Very Solid Player who can play from RD1 Next Year. Very Good Contested Mark,Reads the Ball Well, Can take the game on with his Runs from Back Line and Can play Forward. The Knock of him is the his Form is Up and Down.

Gaertner:
Super Athletic 198 CM Backman from the Stingrays. I have been a Fan of Him for 2 seaons and was suprised we did not draft him last year where we got Thoolen. This pick still would be on Potental then play this season pick. His Quetion mark is his Disposal,Consistency and Footy Smarts. Those his Final Series this year in the TAC Cup was Fantastic and I reckon his Upside is Huge. Also can Play Ruck and Forward

Michael Gugliotta:
Super Raw but has the Most Upisde of the 3 Defenders. Super Mobile at 194cm. Has Great Hands Below His Knees and Just good hand Full Stop, Kicking needs Improving. Massive Attack on the Ball. Could be a Rookie Pick but Could be a 3rd Rounder on his Upside

Who Would you like and Why and if you want to Name another one you like if you don't like these 3

going by what ive read and heard the gater belt would be my choice... his athleticsm has be mentioned with the likes of buddy - touted as a buddy of the backline....

i have a question for you dave.. who would you pick form the bunch? my knowledge of these young guys is pretty poor so i base my judgement on info from all the various phantom drafts on bf and when my net has enough MB i watch the youtube vids...

Whilst it is generally good practice to draft in terms of future poetential I would take Post as the safe bet. Especially in terms of being able to play the role drafted for at AFL level. Gaetner's kicking was probably what stopped him getting drafted last year and is still no better this year. He doesn't strike me as a natural footballer and far more of an athlete then a footballer that's good and well at u/18 level but at the top level he will have to deal with equal athletes who are also superb footballers.

Gugliotta I have a almost non existant knowledge of but I still prefer footballers with football upside not kids with athletic capablity who are yet to show they have any real football ability.

Out of those three I like the look of Post the best. He seems the most natural defender, good spoil, speed, size, mark and has good rebound. Really hope we get him with one of our third rounders.

Out of curiosity is Milne a chance here Dave??? Heard him mentioned before or will he go too early?? Not good enough??

Dave have to disagree about Post lineing up round one i think he would need atleast a year in the reserves to build some muscle but have really liked the look of him i think he could turn out to be a Petrie type player

Didnt mind Gaetner thought he had some pace and could see him as a swing man CHF CHB player

Both Post or Gaetner could be a star or spud really depends

Post would Defiantly be the Safe Bet because he the Best Looking Footballer of the 3 and I can see him playing like Wakes. Gaetner kicking does let him down but at 198cm plus with fantastic Reach I reckon he could make it.

Gugliotta is a Project and Would be a Reach at the 3rd Round but Hine could think someone could pick him him in the 4th or 5th round or Early in the Rookie Draft and He does want to see if he get's to Pick 11 in the Rookie Draft

Hey Dave what do you think of Milne as an option???
Not Really sure, Have not Studied him much. 192cm and 78kg, Seems not Quite tall enough and Skinny.

Post may be an overage player, but he is still 18. His birthday is in December and whilst he has had 3 years in the system, I think you'd find most boys who get drafted do as well. As a 16 year old, they are in pretty much from as early as round 5, then the following two years depending on draft age. Posty wasn't even considered good enough to try out for the Jets until after the 2005 season

allthough gugliotta has potential to be a buddy franklin
post is ten times the better player then the other 2 and gaetner is a absoulutte cat

I'd give Post a look, but the other two I'd leave for the rookie draft personally.
The Mods speaketh the truth.

Well, Post was drafted and Gaertner and Gugliotta are still available.

I'm getting on the Gugliotta bandwagon for the rookie draft, his mobility is excellent and he plays for the same NT club as Liam Jurrah. Let's get them both down here. :thumbsu:

Is the club in the NT Nightcliffe TRS? If so, Anthony Corrie is from there too; before going to Brisbane. We may be onto something here.

I'm also on the Googs, Jurrah bandwagon for the Pies in the rookie draft.

Yep, Nightcliff it is, and I notice there's still a Corrie playing for them which may be Anthony's brother or cousin.

I do love a conspiracy theory! :D
