Kyle Martin.

What's Martins speed and agility like?

Not so good or so bad that you'll notice it which is really the story with the vast majority of our midfield.

It's Martin's footy smarts and ability to find the footy that makes him stand out.

Give a few examples of parts of play they were in where they were "too cocky and not working hard enough"
Yere were 4 0r 5 times they tried to baulk everyone to look like kerns. In fact, Didak seems so intent on the shimmy he is becoming a sad aprody of themselves. As far as not hard working enough, both weren't working hard enough to sick tackles that were there. Cn't afford to have small forwards or mid fielders that can be exposed defensively.

Martin and Dwyer will turn out to be extremely inspired recruiting by the club

Frost and Hudson were the two rookies we made space for- Dwyer was promoted due to broomy being an LTI. When broomy is of the LTI list, i think Dwyer goes back to the rookie list. Does this mean we can only elevate one of Dwyer or Martin? Would we need a mid season senior retirement to upgrade both?

Where are we going to find the room for all these boys !!!! at least we can keep our new kids in the seconds to develop and not rush them now...Really puts pressure on the players to perform now !!!!

To think that I'm struggling to find room for Dale Thomas, Alex Fasolo, Krakouer, Ball, Didak, Young and Beams just shows how incredible our depth is.

To be honest, I don't think Krakouer, Didak and Young are walk up starts anymore. They will need strong VFL form to fight their way back in.

Even Fasolo may not walk straight in.

I think one of the Club's biggest problems is keeping this depth. Convincing players who are clearly better than Melbourne's A-Grade to stay on our B-List is going to be a challenge to say the least.

But it speaks volumes not only for recruitment, but for our fast-track development. You can't overlook the role Craig McRae, Pebs, Tarks and Stiffy have in making sure these young boys (and older recruits) slip into the culture and play the team role. Not over-stating this too much - I think you could make up to 6 changes in the Collingwood side right now and you still wouldn't affect our match-ups or roles that greatly. That's a massive wrap.

Anyone know why Martin didn't play last night? I thought he was unlucky to not be best 22 last year. Haven't heard much positive or negative about him this pre season

I assume he'll play NAB 2.

Like Reid, Swan and a few others. They'll rotate a bunch. Dwyer didn't play last night either.
Think Dwyer has been injured though. I understand resting Swan and Reid but Martin is a rookie so would be dying to showcase himself in the seniors I expect. Is a bit of a strange one as he looked good last year. May be something behind the scenes we don't know about or perhaps Broomy, Freeman etc have gone past him in the pecking order

I'm a bit worried about Martin, I think he may be one that is squeezed aside by the numerous other smaller mid/forwards we have. I didn't understand why he didn't get more or a run last year as his numbers always looked impressive. There must be some factor that leaves him behind the others.

Seriously keep playing Mooney before Kyle Martin who is 5 times the player go figure

Lynch maybe long term injurie list, could this be Kyle's chance?

I bloody hope so... Guy is a dead set gun and unfortunately I have the feeling that if doesn't get games he could be off to another club (rightfully so) and be a really good AFL player

Don't think we'll elevate until it's on a 'needs' basis, but I'm well on the KMart bandwagon since early last year, and I'd love to see him on the senior list.

I keep thinking of Marley Williams, and bringing him up on BF. He has disappeared off the radar - for probably well known reasons - but he was elevated to the senior list and is taking up a space. I want the kid to succeed and sort out his issues, but right now he is occupying a spot that maybe could be better used. Kind of annoying to think he was elevated (rewarded) ahead of Mooney too.

We all say dumb things in hindsight at times.

Sorry but couldn't resist. I probably was thinking the same thing at the time, just didn't say it.

Just shows we should be less quick to judge. I love reading some of the old threads when Pendles was first drafted, Tooves first played in the seniors, and the drafting of Leigh Brown.

Makes me think we should have a 'My stupidest post' thread.
