He is showing a fair bit in the second half of the season. i think he is going to be very good for Carlton and i am thrilled we got him. i may be biased but what do you think of him bearing in mind he is still only 20.

Look, never said he was the next Jonathon Brown but he is performing above expectations from before and half way through the season and I think he is only going to improve over the next couple of years.

Have to remember that at Brisbane he couldn't get a game ahead of Brown or Bradshaw so this is really his first full year. In 2-3 will be a star.

Key position forwards always take time. And there was a reason he was a first round draft pick.

He'll get better - the question is how much better.

shakes head in disbelief.

Please expand on that
Ok ... Blues_Man saw the title, knew it would probably be a Carlton supporter which prompted him to twitch his sternocleidomastoid before opening the thread to find his worst fears had been realised in which he arched his semispinalis capitis and exercised his splenius capitis causing his head to swivel from one side to the other.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the blues will end up winning the trade with Brisbane.

1. Fev is crocked and wasn't helping the team in Carlton

2. The blues upgraded their first pick to get someone handy (Lucas)

3. They got a long-term prospect who isn't an oxygen thief and doesn't destabilise the team.

Henderson IMO looks the goods. Highly rated youngster and did well kicking 3 goals. People forget that Fev was hot and cold, unreliable and couldn't work with teammates. Had a specific set of skills and was completely reliant on delivery.

Given Masten hasn't actually done anything, and Judd is better than Kennedy, the west coast trade was another trade Carlton won.

Kennedy >>>> Henderson

Judd >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> daylight >>>>>>>> Masten

As for Fev, well I'd actually pay money to ensure the club didn't snaffle him.

IMO (especially this year) Henderson and Judd > Masten, Kennedy and Fev. Strange but true IMO.

He's no Josh Kennedy

Having watched both closely, Henderson's clearly shown more at the same age. Both are very smart leads and work hard but Henderson's ability to control the ball at ground level is brilliant for a man of his size. Also has more of a presence in the one on ones than Kennedy did.

Both will be very good forwards though I reckon Henderson will be more able to impose himself on a game. Couldn't be happier with how he's developing. :thumbsu:

Armfield, who was the steak knives in the Judd trade, has also had a better season than Masten. Has really cemented himself in our 22, very reliable 1 on 1. Provides plenty of dash and his disposal has improved quite a bit.

didn't think it meant much last week when he kicked a few goals against my mob but 3 goals against the cats tonight shows he can back it up. He's definitely on the way up, a good effort by the young kid :thumbsu:

Everyone knew that Carlton would be the big winners out of the trade. Even if Fev was an angel this was still a good trade for them.

Voss has traded all his picks out for riff raff which didn't look smart at the time and looks worse now.

Could have fooled me. We had Carlton supporters bemoaning the loss of Bradshaw and Rischitelli!

Felt sick when I saw the above names being bandied about. You can imagine my elation when the Henderson + pick 12 trade went through. :)

Moves nicely for a very big young man and if he learnt to bash into packs and hold marks like Waite (minus the agro) he will be a serious player in a few years. Unfortunately for Carlton they don't have at least one similar young guy coming through at FB/CHB to my knowledge.

I think a positive for Carlton this year is that we now know who will replace Fev. Waite and Henderson aren't the best forward combination in the league, but it's also far from the worst. Fair to say, losing Fev hasn't set the club back as much as people predicted.

Henderson doing well on Scarlett last night was about the most pleasing aspect to come out of last nights game from a Carlton perspective. Lead well, took the ball out in front of his face, and kicked as well as I have seen him kick all year. Has potential 50+ goal a season forward written all over him.
