Why we can't play like that for a whole game! Hell it was good to see the boys play that way again. Is it asking too much? Ok give me 2 or 3 quarters then. I was sitting behind the punt road goals and there was this fwit Norths guy there with his 2 kids who was just sticking it to us the first 3 quarters, God I was so looking forward to wiping the smarmy smile off his butt ugly face.....oh well.....another sad train trip home explaining the results to my kids...

I have no answer to your question.

But speaking of fwits did anyone see the clown at the bulldogs game sitting behind the goals at our end with an annoying clicking thing he was waving the whole game. A few people got stuck into him and eventually he was kicked out in the middle of the last quarter, it was the only victory we had all day. It's too bad we didn't win that game so I could have seen the look on his face afterwards.

Neale Daniher.
Thats why we dont play that game style any more. Hes wrecked our club.

your a ****ing idiot. our club was ****ed b4 he came. how many finals did we play in under balme? ur a ****a. its more likely its because of ********s like you they dont play like that all the time.

Garbage. That's a cop out explanation so you don't have to think. The players have to take the brunt of the responsibility this week. Bugger all changed in Neales coaching from the first 3 quarters to the last but when the players finally pulled their finger out, they showed what they could, no, should do. If they had that same work ethic every quarter, every week, we wouldn't be the laughing stock of the league that we are.

Good to see that the last quarter comeback has, as predicted, papered over everything that was wrong with our game for the first three quarters.

How much longer do you blame the players until you start focusing on the person who is in charge of developing them?

very frustrating, where the turning point came from, who nows? hopefully we can take it into next week?

So you think Neale changed the gameplan at 3 quarter time? Please, the only thing that changed was the players actually ran and made options like Neale wants them to. I know that Daniher has come to the end of his time and can't see him leading us forward anywhere but to purely blame him for all our woes as so many people do is just lazy.

How can people seriously be blaming the players?? If anything I feel sorry for them for having to try and implement a game plan which clearly doesn't suit our team. I'm sure some of them have to fight their instincts to handball to a guy getting tackled rather than kick long to a one on one, but thats what daniher wants.

however, do you think that Neita told the boys to piss off Hayseed's 3/4 recommendations?

The WHOLE team sucks - that includes the coach, the players, the fitness team, the ticket collector and those annoying bastards selling raffle tickets (I'M ON THE PHONE, can't they tell that i am having a conversation!)

Bottom out, and rebuild.

.

No, I think daniher realised that when you score only 4 goals in 3 quarters of footy, something is obviously wrong. He prolly went off his head and just told the boys to roll the dice and kick to a contest, rather than keep up the run and carry shenanigans.

I'll agree with you on that one. We aren't disciplined, smart enough or hard working enough to play a running game.

Haha, one on one. Any time we kicked the ball long it was to a three on one but we never had the three. At the moment, we aren't skillful, smart enough or disciplined enough to play to any gameplan and we should be far better than that.

I agree with that - it's not his fault that twats stand around handballing it to each other for three hours but it happens week, after week, after week. Surely somewhere he's dragging people aside and asking the hard questions, then come game day it's all back to slop again. When he goes half the squad need to follow and we can start again while we've got rising stars like Brock coming into their prime.

And the fact that Miller appears to have learnt absolutely NOTHING over the off-season is what really ****s me off about this year. You would have thought they'd have sat him down and actually given him a lesson on how to play CHF because it's obvious that he has no idea.

By christ I hope our next coach has a plan to get the kickouts right. I can't believe it's taken so long for one to cost us a game because we have been absolutely abysmal at it for years.

I think you've got it pretty much spot on there Super. I'm one of the bigger Miller supporters around (I'm not asking for him to be hanged - yet :) ) and although he doesn't get the reward of good delivery to go with his work ethic, he really appears to be a one trick pony. If no-one runs by for a handball after he marks, he really has no idea of what to do with the ball.

And if the coaching staff didn't spot that last season they're even bigger crackheads than I thought. One of the things I really looked forward to this year was seeing him take his game to a new level but it hasn't happened and after 84 games how long are we meant to wait for the greap leap forward?

I'd rather see him in the backline playing the Holland role if we could find a decent CHF. Bate is coming on alright but presumably that'll go wrong somewhere down the line.

Apparently he carried OP last year so I was willing to cut him some slack and give him a chance this year. I don't think he has been terrible this year but he clearly can't carry us like we need and the other problem is he looks more lost down back and makes Holland look like a star defender.

Bate certainly started to look the goods at CHF til he got injured but is he big enough?

Best quarter of footy that Melbourne have played all year and returned to the style that made them successful in recent times. Confidence is a big thing and maybe this quarter may help them in upcoming games but with a 1 point loss morale and spirit could be totally lost.

Just another point about Melbourne and their injuries/ form problems. Why was the ex Hawthorn fitness coach recruited by Melbourne when his history at Hawthorn was a number of soft tissue injuries that may have been related to an unsuitable training program - perhaps this was a bad appointment?

I don't personally think that Melbourne is a bad side, but they need to return to their hard running, attacking style. Being defensive is certainly not going to win them matches but will assist in further alienating their disgruntled and dissillousioned fans.

Yep we're all over the fitness coach thing, Bohdan B.
Has any notice we play our best football without the ball going through the chf's hands, be it miller or anyone. When we work the ball out of the backline and then have a midfielder like Brock or TJ or a flanker like Yze or Bate running towards the goals, able to have shots from 50 or hit neita on a long lead 30-45 out from goal

**** off.
We all new that ND wanted a new game plan going into this year, he wanted to be like west coast, so our midfielders had to lose muscle to get more endurance. Now they look weak as piss. He wanted a run and carry style, and in the last quarter it was so damn obvious that he told them to go full out attack, kick long and direct, which is what we saw for the majority of last year.
To suggest thats a cop out shows that you are a ********.
THIS IS NEALES GAME PLAN, HE CHANGED IT AND THE PLAYERS ARENT UPTO IT, SO AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED NEALE IS TO BLAME.

The problem on Sunday for the first 3 qtrs was fairly simple. An insistence to play wide around the members wing at all costs and another insistence NEVER to kick to a contest. Why would our backline and on ballers possibly show any faith in our forwards to win a 50/50 contest!

I felt sorry for Robbo and Neita and any Melbourne forward in the first 3 quarters. Some bright spark at 3 quarter time came up with the idea of moving the ball quickly and directly into the forward line and run in numbers aka 2006.

Seven goals later we nearly snatch the win!

What annoys me is the fact that the players don't seem to work hard, as soon as they dispose of the ball their job is done. So many times I see someone handball off and let an opposition player run straight past them to tackle who they just handballed to. No sheparding at all. We don't work hard enough when we don't have the ball. When in some of our earlier games when we had no forward line we were fighting for the ball and running hard.
Someone needs to get the short handball blindly to someone game out of their heads too.

I completely agree with that. The whole training regime has been a complete balls-up. West Coast and Sydney both have plenty of endurance but are the strongest teams in the competition. Why we had to lose our strength to run is beyond me. And we don't run hard anyway.

So the players are completely devoid of any responsibilty? You believe that if you want. Neale is to blame for the direction in fitness (endurance, not strength) and I think he has made blunders in selection and sometimes he is outcoached on the day but they have shown multiple times during the year that when they are willing to work hard we are competitive. Too often though the players aren't willing to work up field and give options, hence handballing in circles and turnovers when we blaze a blind kick forward. As ExTasDeeMan said, it's been an entire team stuff up. Especially those raffle ticket sellers.

If the players arent upto his gameplan, then why does he still want them to go in that direction? Everyone can see that it is not working, and when they play there natural game they really turn it on. The players must follow the coaches instructions, and if anyone decided to ignore this then all hell would break loose. It seems that they just dont know what to do, hence handballing to stationery players and getting in trouble. If they dont understand what is needed to play this new style then surely you cant blame them.
