he isn't in the vfl though

I meant that he should be included on the list of 5 -- then there's no argument against our drafting etc. Unless Laycock is assumed to be someone who should've been delisted 2 years ago (and I've never written him off, and haven't yet).

I understand that if Laycock/Hille were injury free, then it still would be just Belly/Bock in the twos, but just from a list management perspective, we can't forget that Paddy was always considered a future ruckman of the Polly Farmer type -- he was kept in defence to 1. protect his developing body 2. develop his defensive side to something akin to a KPB. If it required Belly/Bock be left in the VFL, sure Bendigo will lose games but EFC couldn't care less about that, and it will fast-track their development if anything.

So there were always 5 ruckmen on the 2009 list -- one was gonna be used as a non-ruck in the AFL, two were gonna be AFL ruckmen, two were gonna be left to develop in the VFL. I agree with the 5 ruckmen premise, and I disagree that it wasn't satisfied. I just disagree with the premise that there needs to be an AFL-standard ruckman to babysit the bottom 2 through the VFL. I guess I just don't like list-bashing in the face of three injuries.

I heard that when Big Gav isn't fighting intergalactic crime, curing cancer and stopping global warming, he's the best ruckman ever.

One pick after Hislop - what could have been.

HFF, for the record, I called for the laggard to be traded to Carlton circa 2006.

I have been asking for a 5th ruckmen on our list for nearly 6 months.

We needed to have another ruckmen in the reserves, if ever we needed a back up.

Really wonder what would have happened if Ryder had not succeed in the ruck.

What people would be calling for knoghts head or something.

Really makes me wonder.

Your wish is my command.

1. David Hille
2. Jason Laycock
3. Tom Bellchambers
4. Christian Bock

No need to panic.
The Lions are in a similar position to us (ruck stocks and injuries) and have been making do with Mitch Clark who has been going great similarly to Ryder.

Interesting to read in the paper yesterday, that the Age regard Mitch Clark and Matthew Kruezer as the next two to take that next step, and possibly even diembark on Dean Cox's throne as the number one ruckmen in the competition and even All Australian honors, where do they see Paddy Ryder, thought he has been just as, if not more effective as Mitch Clark, also, Hamish Mcintosh would have to be the next youngster to take that 'next step' you would have thought this year, really taken his game to new heights.
