Always going to happen. One of channel 7's half time pieces during a Carlton game last year showed the leadership group having a session with Ray McLean, and Murphy and Gibbs were there too.

Perfect - We really are heading the right way on so many fronts - The further those deplorable 8 yrs get from my memory the better.

Just think... a couple of years back there were massive calls for the club to sack or trade Rusty.

To all those people, and they know who they are, arent you happy that the club kept him now?

Russell's performances didn't exactly fill me with hope in the past, but it was clear that he had the potential to develop into a top-quality player. I'm really happy to see that he has put the work in and is now showing the world what he is capable of. Congrats to Murphy, Gibbs and Russell on being selected to the leadership group.
 
I'm really pleased to see JR recognised with elevation to the leadership group. He has probably worked as hard as any player at the club on improving himself. He & Jamo were the generals of the backline last season & he just continues to grow as a player & a person. Well done, JR.
 
Jambo or JR will be the next C/VC of the club...very pleased with Murph and Bryce's inclusions too, think the responsibility will only do good for their individual games.

Murphy and Gibbs were a given I feel. Like most, JR is the one I am most proud of. He is also the biggest lesson for fans that expect too much, too soon, and prematurely end a player's career.

Remember, once you go that extra mile in bagging a player to satisfy your own frustration, its stands testiment to your own judgment. We all say stuff in the heat of the moment, but it takes a stronger person to change that to something constructive when all you want to do is let loose.

I hope all have career best seasons. If they do, we are top 4.

Collins is already the "spiritual leader" of the club.;)
 
Agree with all 3 inclusions and as others have said the Murph and Gibbs elevation was always going to happen.

A big well done to JR which shows what patience and a bit of confidence can do to a players game and his whole outlook. 2 years ago JR was probably so worried about getting a game that he struggled to exert any influence over his team mates.

I expect the big krooze to join the leadership group next season as from all reports he doesn't say a lot but when he does talk everyone listens and the way he plays just reeks of natural leadership.
