This thread is about posting something that will be of benefit to others (ie teach other BF users). There are no rules or parameters (other than normal BF rules).

It could be instructions on how to thread a needle or a fact about a politician or a lengthy post on the importance of light in photography. The choice is yours!

So what do you have to share and or teach us today?

I'll start with a video I found on YouTube on how to tie a bowline!
Let the power be yours!

Bit hard when your butts are crushed into the ground covered in dirt or in the bin  The question must be asked .. where do you keep your butts exactly and ....... why?

Edgar Allan Poe, American poet, was seventeen years old when accepted into Virginia University. First year he managed to gamble all his scholarship money. It was also reported that Edgar owed around $2500 to local gamblers. Gambling addiction led to alcoholism, which is still debated by many Poe's followers. However, it was reported by school systems that Edgar showed up in class drunk even during the examinations. The interesting fact is that Edgar Allan Poe finished with highest grades in his class and became best student of his generation.

If going to the Royal Melb Show a must see is Camel Corner. Set in the North-West corner is where the young fillies mount their stallions and put them thru their paces. After they've dismounted the toe is the glow of the show. :thumbsu:

Based on several years of BF i'd say an important lesson which an overwhelming number of posters need is that when you're describing someone as having bias they are biased. The phrase you're bias makes no sense unless you're making some absurd metaphysical statement.

Criticism is neutral word. If you criticise something or someone you weight up their merits. Therefore, to criticise a person or thing does not necessarily imply negativity.

If your post lacks sufficient proper spelling and/or grammar (overall orthography), then nobody will take your opinion seriously.

Surely this means every Year 12 English question I answered entitled "Critically analyse" was a tautology?

No-one knows what the word 'deceptively' actually means - when it's used with an adjective, at least.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/deceptively

Usage Note: When deceptively is used to modify an adjective, the meaning is often unclear. Does the sentence The pool is deceptively shallow mean that the pool is shallower or deeper than it appears? When the Usage Panel was asked to decide, 50 percent thought the pool shallower than it appears, 32 percent thought it deeper than it appears, and 18 percent said it was impossible to judge. Thus a warning notice worded in such a way would be misinterpreted by many of the people who read it, and others would be uncertain as to which sense was intended. Where the context does not make the meaning of deceptively clear, the sentence should be rewritten, as in The pool is shallower than it looks or The pool is shallow, despite its appearance.
