I've just got a feeling about our ruckmen. Gardiner was great round 14. Gardy and King are better than the Geelong ruckmen and if we control the rucks then it will help us get first use. I have this feeling that Gardy's in for a blinder (Norm Smith?!?)

A bit like the love-tap on Riewoldt Friday night?

Champ - I'm betting you wouldn't have got up after the first bump off the ball (let alone the 4th one).

You reckon that wasn't smart by Riewoldt after hearing the Bulldogs being warned not to do it again?

Never seen Junior on the ground squealing like the little bitch that he is to the umpire?

Tag Bartel, Ablett, Selwood out of the game. Tag them the hell out of the game. Don't let Ling influence anything. Spoil Hawkins, Mooney, Ottens. Put them out of the contest, drop their confidence. Run around Harley make him look old and silly.

Take risks, run, tackle, chase, numbers at the ball. Hard and ferocious. The zone of doom. HELP RIEWOLDT GEES!! Schneider, Milne you have to start doing something this finals series.

Have fun. Don't panic. You've prepared for this day, all the vomit inducing training has brought you to this point. Enjoy it with discipline!

1) I'm not a conditioned AFL footballer so it's obvious I would've gone down. Stupid statement.

2) Going down was smart? If that's St Kilda's definition of smart footy then Saturday's game is over already.

3) The use of profanity correlates with your lack of intellect, especially when the man has just won a Brownlow. Not sure where you get the arrogance from, particularly when your club has a 0.87% premiership success rate.

Could you pick your mother up from my house, Ben? The novelty's worn off.

You douchebag.

Anyway agree about the rucks, I think Blake and Ottens is an area that can really be exploited, Blake being an average player and Ottens on his way back from injury.

Also Geelong will say that the Stevey J factor will work in their favour, but if we can hurt him early with some crunching tackles his confidence could go and maybe it will work in our favour. That's one thing I thought Collingwood failed to do last week, lay some crunching tackles.

Which leads me onto my point about the Rd 14 match...smashing tackles were laid all over the ground, especially at the start of the match when we got the jump on em. Need Gilbert, Schneids et al laying some of those crunchers on Saturday.

Happy to have a power ruck combo, Gardiner & King fill me with alot of confidence.

previous rounds have nothing to do with it as proven by the fact that bulldogs didn't get close to us in the season proper but took it to the dieing minutes on friday.

hopefully this game will be the reverse of that.

Goal scoring ability for the Cats largely came fromt eh midfield and half back brigade (hell Milburn ended up with 2 goals FFS) so by and large accountability needs to be paramount with the run and spread as our defense can cater with the cats forward who are, at best hot and cold and prone to missing easy shots, the run is generated from the half back line which brings in Mini, Roo, Jones / Dempster / BJ who need to stick with their opponents and limit their impact.

On the converse we also need to rebound well, engineering Chips or Gilbo as a loose man to combat Harley who's in his twilight years. The ruck situation should be in our favour, although we have seen that ruck dominance does not immediately correlate to centre square dominance, hard tag Ablett and Bartel, run with Corey & Selwood while Lingy goes to Dal who takes him to the cleaners.

To win we need the same spread from our forwards and te Gardimonster with the added bonus of the midfield chipping in for goals. One glaring anomoly from the round 14 clash is that it was our ruckman and forwards who scored everything, since then BJ, Joey and Dal and even Hayes have stepped up to kick start run ons with goals so they need to do the same and provide greater avenues for goal with Gram.

And since it seems to be a trend, cats fans, this is not a discussion piece.

.

Funny from a Cats fan. Apart from Gabletts clear dive and scrag against the Pies for un un-earnt goal...the Cats in Selwood have the biggest milker of free kicks in AFL History.

Selwood has it down to an artform of knowing exactly when to buckle his legs to score high tackles and free kicks.

I have never seen another player that plays for free kicks as much as Selwood. Makes Lloyd look like an amateur.

Dear pussy two face, do you think you could aim your arse out the window when you talk? You need to deflate yourself abit and no one here wants you round when you do, so do us a favour and **** off.

Signed 145 IQ (and counting....).
Beat that?

PS What exactly are you studying at UMelb?

I wonder if the OP also noticed the following when he was reviewing the tape (or DVD) from Round 14:
  • Geelong started the game with Ablett deep in the forward line, and Bartel and Corey on the half back line. In other words, our three best players in terms of centre clearances were out of the square, and we had Chapman, Selwood, Ling and Mumford, who is our 3rd ruckman in there instead. It wasn't until halfway through the first term, after the Saints had jumped out to a five goal lead, that those players, plus Blake, went into the middle, and momentum swung our way. Don't expect Ablett and Bartel to start anywhere else but the middle on Saturday.
  • With no SJ, both Gilbert and Fisher killed us in the first term with their run off half back. After quarter time, Max Rooke locked down on Gilbert, keeping him to 10 possessions after 1/4 time after he had 10-12 in the first term but Fisher continued to play well. With SJ back this week, Fisher will have to be more mindful of his opponent, and will probably be more wary of running off him, which will also allow Rooke to limit Gilbert's influence from the get go.
  • Ottens will be back this week, and he is fit. He played four games in our VFL side before he came back to the senior side in Round 22. Gardiner will not be as effective as he was against Mumford and Blake this time around. King is also nursing his shoulder too, which showed when he only got 9 hitouts against the Bulldogs last week, and Ottens is smart enough to take advantage of this. Blake will be back in his more familiar role of back-up ruckman, as opposed to being the number one ruckman like in Round 14.
  • David Wojcinski should, by rights, be playing this week as well. Saints fans won't need any reminders of how well Wojcinski plays against the Saints, and how much his pace is a potent weapon against them. If you need reminding, just look it up on youtube.

Didn't Ablett kick a couple of early ones playing forward in Round 14?

Possibly we will play Gilbert on Johnson? Good luck to Jarad Rooke in keeping up with Fish.

Maybe King will better the 5 hitouts and 4 possessions by McEvoy in Round 14?

What, the youtube clip where he burned off Shane Birss who no longer plays for the club along with Fiora, Gehrig and Rix from that game?

Reading this thread reminds me of why I really hope we grind your smarmy f***ing faces into the dirt on Saturday.

I don't have time for pseudo-intellectuals like you. Next...

I fart in your general direction.

Your mother was a hampster, and your father smelt of elderberries.

Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

You mates with Eddie McGuire, or just doing a Diploma in spin doctoring?

Selwood goes in and gets the hard ball - that's courage.

He ducks his head to draw a free, not because he's scared - that's smart.

The umpires fall for the trap - that's dumb.

Your post ... well, it's somewhere south of dumb.

At least he doesn't fall to the ground like a sack of bricks when someone brushes against him.

Reading all the posts from cocky Geelong supporters here, that have decided to stick their noses into threads on our board, has reminded me why I really hope we grind your smarmy f***ing faces into the dirt on Saturday.

Don't know why so many Geelong supporters feel the need to post on our board anyway. I don't even bother reading their board, let alone post on it. I guess our board must be more interesting or intellectually stimulating than their board.
