Lmao it happens to all the other sides in the world about 2 fold and now the Aussies get a few little injuries here and there and nothing is going theyre way? Haha get a clue, Australia get a lot of luck going there way, a few injuries is nothing out of the ordinary hate to break the news to you, when was the last time Australia had a real long term injury?

Its not a few little injuries any more mate. We've got Lee, Symonds, most probably Clarke, Ponting is having bad back problems, Gilchrist is missing (not and injury but still absent) and a couple of other are not in top shape. Thats 5 of our best 11, almost half the team missing.

Yes but they are hardly injuries, im talking Injuries when players actually miss a game buddy. Not a few little niggles here and there, i bet come the first game, Australia will have 1 at most 2 players missing, which will probably both play in the future games.

I think Australian supporters need about 2-3 long term injuries and really feel the disappointment of players missing through injury.

Tait needs a rest IMO. He looked flat against Queensland even though he took 4 wickets. He's going to tour the West Indies next month and he will play a role in the earlier matches, so a few weeks rest couldn't hurt to refresh the mind and body. I know I know - we have to win the Chappell-Hadlee series - but I'm more concerned about our World Cup aspirations (ODI cricket's biggest prize).

Every time I see him the strapping on his elbow keeps getting bigger.

Hope he isn't the next one to break down.

If the selectors want Tait in the world cup, then why didn't he go to New Zealand? It confuses the hell out of me..

Brett Lee deserved a one week rest anyway, he bowled alot over thee summer so far, and if he was rested, this injury would'nt of happened

The injury was a total fake. Lee didnt want to play there in the first place but needed to provide sufficient proof of injury so the kiwis dont whinge even more about our pull-outs. A masterstroke.

Losing ODIs? Stupid injuries to key players? Are you England in disguise?

I hope Bing's ok though, the world cup will need it's stars if it's to be a decent spectacle.

Tait should go over... otherwise why was he in the 15 man party anyway? This is just hopeless. Nothing going our way. Very very hard to win a world cup with people staying for their baby's birth, injuries everywhere. THis is just crap:thumbsd:

The start of the last World Cup didnt really seem to go our way either. The Warne incident and gillespie getting injured!!

They are niggles because our players have courage - KP would've gone home already.

As for long term injuries - McGrath, Warne, Langer, Gillespie.

We have our injuries, it's just that we actually have depth to cover them.

Lee will return home today. Shaun Tait will replace him.

Sky News talking to Henry Lawson about it. Should be pretty funny:rolleyes:

Taity is currently mid-air

Won't make it for the first game though, will play the second in Auckland.

I think Lee is screwed for the WC, unless the selectors repeat the Andrew Symonds precedent. I wonder how many fit players will be in the 15 man squad .

You cannot roll your ankle in like that without sustaining some form of ligament/cartilage damage. It is his left ankle too... not good given the stress he puts in under in his delivery stride.

Look on the bright side Brett, you'll be able to write more Bollywood songs :thumbsu:.

Doesn't look good for Lee, apparently it could be 6 weeks or more.

Has been sent home.

Injured Lee sent home

Brett Lee is in danger of missing the World Cup after being sent home from his team's short tour of New Zealand with a painful ankle injury.
Lee had X-rays in Wellington yesterday after twisting his left ankle at training, but Australian physiotherapist Alex Kountouris has ordered him to immediately return to Sydney for scans and further treatment.
Lee has been cleared of any serious breaks but could miss the World Cup, starting in the West Indies in less than four weeks, if he has damaged his ligaments.
"If it's ligament damage it can take four to six weeks (to heal), but it depends on which ligaments are damaged," he said.
"It can also be cartilage or bone that doesn't show up on X-rays.
"The X-rays cleared him on any break but if you damage your cartilage or ligaments around the joint, it is also very painful."
Shaun Tait has been called in to replace Lee for the three-game Chappell-Hadlee series, but will not make it in time for this afternoon's opening match.
Lee's injury scare is the latest worry for Australia in a troubled build-up to their World Cup defence.
All-rounder Andrew Symonds is recovering from bicep surgery and will miss at least the first half of the World Cup, captain Ricky Ponting pulled out of the Chappell-Hadlee series with a back problem while top-order batsman Michael Clarke is struggling with a hip complaint.
Lee is ranked fifth on the International Cricket Council's list of top one-day bowlers and his withdrawal from the World Cup would be another major blow to Australia's chances of winning the tournament.
Australia looked to be almost unbeatable a month ago but the mounting injury toll and sudden loss of form has brought them back to the field.

So will every other country in the world.

If Lee doesnt play in the WC, we are in serious trouble, infact we wont win the WC without him.
Bold statement, i know how valuable he is because i rate him as a top 5 odi bowler, but australia still has plenty of talent and we're a very good chance of winning the world cup.

Tait would be a more than adequet replacement
He'd be more than adequate. On one condition.

Don't give him the new ball, that's when he can be erratic, that's when you'll get the wides etc. Lee is a far more consistent new ball one day bowler than Tait at the moment.

He doesn't need it, he bowls just as well with the old ball. As well as anyone when he gets it right in actual fact.

He's obviously potentially extremely dangerous with the new ball but I'd be more confident in exceptional performances from the lad is the majority of his 10 were sent down with a slightly older pill. He may possibly be first in line to replace Lee as the second new ball bowler and he may be the best option (potentially he is by miles) but I think the risk would be an unnecessary one. McGrath and Bracken should get first crack. If that fails, then exeriment.

Wish he was there today to bowl on this minefield
