massive match with Carlisle this weekend

As a Carlisle supporter, can I just say these two games this week, Swansea at home (Wednesday Morning) and Leeds on the weekend are possibly our the two biggest games in last 35 years, at the very least since the final game of the 1998/99 season (the Jimmy Glass game). If we can pull off a win a home and sneak a draw at Leeds, then I think automatic promotion is assured, even if Leeds get their 15pts back.
To be playing in the Championship just 4 seasons after the lowest point in the clubs history (Conference Football) would be one of the great stories in British football.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

We've won it against Carlisle 3-2, important win! Two goals to Freedman and one to Howson.

Five point buffer over Tranmere for the playoff positions now.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

super dougie freedman!!!

points hearing on wednesday

massive few weeks coming up for the club

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

I think it's about time you forgot about the 15 points.

One of my pommie friends (who is a Leeds supporter) says even if the courts rule in favour of Leeds they will not return the 15pts, because of the lateness of the season, and the issues it will cause with the other teams fighting promotion.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

just start trusting leeds again
and what happens?
they go and lose games they should win
the only bonus being walsall lost too, so still 4 points clear of 7th
let the games begin..3 day abitration...wooooo

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

lol at other managers whinging at the timing
Leeds asked for Arbitration in August, the FL didnt want a bar of it and acted all smug..we took legal action, they buckled and didnt want to go to court. (After months of their legal team deciding mind you)

This has what caused it being so late..mahwinney you ____!

Millwall request delay in Leeds decision (Granuiad)

Millwall have appealed to the Football League to delay announcing the outcome of Leeds United's arbitration proceedings until after the League One game between the two sides on Saturday, amid fears of heightened tension between rival supporters. Millwall officials fear a backlash from travelling Leeds fans should the club be unsuccessful in getting back the 15 points deducted at the start of the season.

I guess Millwall v Leeds is enough of a problem fixture as it is!

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

____, didn't even know we were playing on Tuesday and just when it seemed we were finding some form again! Very lucky Walsall lost.

As for the arbitration, are we realistically any chance to get a positive outcome? I can't keep up with all the off field drama...

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Security was very tight in Huddersfield yesterday my mate tells me. All pubs closed for the afternoon on the orders of the police.

this is true
all local pubs had to shut at 6pm

just back on the arbitration, as i mentioned above, theyre all whinging about the timing of it, blame the FL..

There appeal will lose, same situation (i think same panel in fact) involved with sheff utd and west ham, look how far the blunts got:rolleyes:

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan believes Leeds United will be unsuccessful in their bid to have their 15-point deduction overturned.

Ryan told the BBC: "In my opinion they will fail. If they do succeed it would be an incredibly sad day for football.

"It would actually mean that promotion could be decided in a court of law."

If Leeds have all the points returned they would climb to second in the League One table and third-placed Doncaster would drop to fourth.

"I've never known anything like this happen," he said.

Ryan is also concerned that a Leeds victory in the courts would set a dangerous precedent.

"What would happen next? Would Bournemouth, Luton, Rotherham - all the other teams that have lost 10 points, take on the Football League? I think it's a nonsense."

The tribunal hearing is scheduled to last until Friday but it is not known if the verdict will be announced before Leeds' trip to Millwall on Saturday.

lol
is this guy a ******?
teams that have lost 10 points? where you been sunshine, we've lost 25..didnt see him so concerned that a team was going to fold because of a dispute between the tax office and the football league..____ing w***er

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

According to BBC Leeds, Philip Otton (the presiding judge), the 15 point hearing will finish this Monday (a fourth day) with a verdict announced in 3 to 4 weeks (12th or 19th May) AFTER the Play-off semi final first leg will have taken place.:eek:

Shambolic.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

It's a complete farce.

Too bad about being unfair on the other clubs. We've won these points on the pitch, they aren't losing any of their own points, we're just attempting to claim back what are rightfully ours.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Exactly Catman, the other clubs are damn lucky we lost the 15 in the first place. This whole process is such a bloody mess, can't believe all the crap that has unfolded over this year.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Seems fair.

Lets not forget that Leeds signed an agreement saying they would accept the decision of the League, and would not take it any further.

This is wholly and solely down to Leeds.

Penalise them another 15 points for next season I say for being liar, liar pants on fire types.

Ok
if we're going to believe everything we read in the press, then lets not forget the FL assuring us we fell under the "exceptional circumstances" category and we would not be punished despite coming out of admin without a CVA

down to leeds issit?
too bad Mahwinney thought he could brush us aside and we'd give up.
we offered arbitration in August, he thought we'd give up...he then shat himself over legal proceedings and accepted arbitration 6 months later..

soley down to the football league

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Are you saying that Leeds didn't sign a statement they wouldn't contest the decision?

Why should the league accept arbitration, when you've already said you wouldn't take things any further? The only reason there doing it now is that it's much quicker/cheaper than the other option that Leeds have forced upon the league, and thats court.

All I hear in this thread is about how everyone else is at fault, and it's all a big conspiracy against Leeds. How about taking some responsibility for your own clubs actions?
