I watched the NTAFL game today on abc2 on austar...it was the tiwi islanders versus saint marys.....you just have to see these silky aboriginal skills although they can't kick...but other than that, magic time

The commentators are terrible.

I only lasted about 10 minutes into it with those guys and the bizarre habit of showin the commentators in a split screen when the game is going on.

The TFL television commentary used to be bad (the radio commentary was good though) with some of the same people that now do Tas based VFL games, but at least they commentated on the game at hand while it was progressing.
They treated the game last night as a backdrop to whatever tedious anecdotes they wanted to bring up, ratehr than as a game in its own right. Understandable, these games are nothing more than an excuse to get a few people together. Its a pity they didn't show a replay of the stush between Rhys-Jones and Wright when they were playing coaches of North launceston and Clarence (or at least, I didn't see it if it was shown).

on the bad commentary thing, I once was listening to the radio while watching a game between North Launceston and Devonport at York Park, one that North had control of all day, but Devonport almost pinched with the help of one of those '12 point' umpiring decisions where the umpy backs up a bad decision in front of goal by giving another free kick. North held on to win, but the commentator on the radio started wondering why the crowd was so subdued after a close game. His conclusion was that the crowd must be 'new to the game' and 'not sure how to react' after a close win. never mind the fact that they had almost seen their team blow a game with the help of the umpy. Bizarre reasoning, that.

I guess you were looking away when centreman Thomas Simon delivered some precision ball to the forwards, left- and right-footed, and under pressure...When big Norman Pangirimini likewise cleared the ball from CHB...When full-forward Ephrem Tipungwuti nailed all his set shots (bar one on a tight angle)...When Eddie Darcy's kick-ins from FB found a team-mate in the clear.
