Toast Leigh Brown

He may not have been the best for us tonight, but he demonstrated why he offers so much more than Fraser or Wood to our team.

His endeavour, leading and contests in the ruck were all far better than anything Fraser has offered this year. He also offered a bit down back when needed as well.

Unless he gives performances like Fraser did this year I see no reason why he shouldn't be in the team.

:thumbsu: Definitely should be getting a game ahead of Josh, its blatantly obvious that he is more ferocious etc. etc.,

He's comfortably ahead of both Fraser and Wood at the moment. They could both learn a lot from his competitiveness.

Leroy brings great tenacity into our side and tonight he popped up twice in the forward line when we really needed it.

He is a good utility player and showed his worth tonight

Much better then Fraser.
Agreed - Could this mean the end for Fraser in the Black and White?

Good to see Leroy Kick Straight for Goal:thumbsu:

What it means is we don't have to rely on two currently quite poor second rucks

If either find form fantastic but currently Leroy is easily best 22 before both.

Leigh has something Josh doesnt and thats strength and thats what we need in our second ruckman. He also goes in hard and it does us more good then bad.

Liked him tonight. Can go missing but you can't deny his physicality.

best forward against the Dogs and tonight.

Creates a lot of opportunity with his attack on the ball and can plug 3 key position roles on the footy field.

Massive bargain at pick 80+. You can tell he loves the club too

Couldn't agree more with all this. You gotta have people that try. It affects the whole team's attitude and tells the opposition we don't really want it.

Fraser has to be simply a depth player now..disappointing as I felt he had potentially a lot to offer this year, relieved of his burden, but sadly, he hasn't seized that opportunity.

He is the perfect back-up ruckman.

One, he throws his body around, will always give a contest and most importantly can go forward or back. Also look how well Jolly played will the extra responsibility!

Browny puts Josh to shame

Leigh Brown is one hell of an under-rated footballer. You don't play over 200 games without having some worthwhile qualities. Without a doubt, would be in our best 22 at the moment, and the perfect back-up ruckman to Darren Jolly. On current form, I wouldn't change it for the rest of the season.

I agree that L Brown deserves his place in the side ahead of Fraser & Wood at the moment. However, Sydney only had one good ruckman tonight, Mumford. Pyke is a work in progress at best. Against sides with two good ruckman L Brown gets shown up. Fraser & Wood are going to have to really earn their spot in the side if they're going to displace L Brown though.

Geelong play Blake and West, and probably Ottens and Blake come finals.

Sydney play Gardiner + Mcevoy.

All traditional ruckmen, not athetic talls that could possibly expose Leigh Brown.

So I view him as a very good 2nd ruck option, given he also offers utility value in being able to go forward, go back and play KP and even run around on the wing and cause a nuisance. He won't get outmuscled by those bigger bodied ruckmen, and we should be developing a side to beat St. Kilda and Geelong.

People like H.Mac, Cox, Jamar, Natanui, Kreuzer, Ryder, Leunburger etcwould expose Brown by simply outjumping him and spreading from contests quicker. This won't happen with any of Ottens, Gardiner, Mcevoy or Blake.

First off cant believe you said he wasnt one of our best:confused:
he played very well , I think another toast should go out to the glove Presti, what a fantastic shut down roll on Goodes.

And another toast should be for the whole team, for another interstate win, we surely do it well, 1 more to go in two weeks time, hopefully pencil in another one as a group of us are jetting over for that 1 should be fun.:thumbsu:

Agree that L.Brown's attitude and game is pretty good..

Just needs to take it easy that he doesn't give away frees...LOL

Funny guy to watch...

key thing there is attitude, he does give away a free at times, but he generally doesn't go mental at the ump, get's on with the game.

like Leroy a lot, has a versatile game and has the bulk to be a pain for the opposition
