Cannot wait for the second half of the year for him, just so he can prove everyone wrong.

To me, this year Davis has been on a managed work load, so that he can run out the second half/finals of the year better than previous years.
Personally I would rather him have his blinders at the end of the year rather than the first part of the year.

I think he will be put into the midfield in the second half of the year and tear it up.

Carn' Leon, I'm not overly worried about your form personally but I just want you to rub it into people faces, especially Dermie and other Collingwood fans that have ridden you off.

I think everyone would prefer he played better in the second half of the year going in to September, I hope he does it this year.

I think most criticism directed at Leon has been fairly justified, people want him to play better because they know he is a better player than he has shown this year. If he does bring his A game into the second half of the year and through finals I don't think that would be rubbing it in anyones face but merely proving to himself that he can perform in September. Good luck to him, I hope he can do it for Collingwoods sake and his own.

The funny thing is, he has no chance of having as good a year as he did last year, by virtue of the fact there aren't enough games left.

However, should he string together a good September, 2010 will be remembered as the more successful year for him.

Fingers crossed...

He could not touch the ball again all year and if he had a good September than it would be his best year.

I thought on Monday Dick showed what we expect Davis to do.
Maybe Leon's time is up just as Frasers time is up and for the last 2 years of Rocca's career his time was up. Davis needs to get his mojo back or give it away at the end of the season.

You don't think that's a little over the top?

For starters, Leon was AA LAST YEAR, and you want him to retire because he is having an average to good (on output, pressure/effort wise) first half of the year, where he has spent 99% of his gametime sitting in the forward pocket.
There was a damning statistic that I heard, this year Leon has taken part in 16 centre bounces compared to 92 at the same stage last year, does that not give you an indication of how isolated he has been this year?

That's not a statistic you can ignore, it more than accounts for his low numbers I think.

I can't understand why his game would be changed so much from one year to the next considering how damaging he was last year unless he isn't fit enough to play through the middle. Or is the reason he has spent so much time forward purely because dick hasn't been in the team.

Brad Dicks game against Melbourne was better than any Davis game in the last year and a half...and he played in the VFL.

I think they've found the solution to Leon as a pocket.

Pfft...

Please, keep this rubbish for the bay.

If anything, Dick will be popping up (no pun intended) alot throughout this year as the likes of Davis, Didak and Medhurst will receive all of the attention, leaving Dick with the next best opponent.

I don't care if Leon plays well or not.
Just so long as he's out there I'm happy..
Rather lose the premiership than win it without him..

I thought the post on the main board saying Swanny doesn't do enough around the contests would be a monty as the most ridiculous thing I'd read this week on BF, can't believe it was topped on the same day. Winty nomination for the week :o

I'm confident(ly hoping) this will be the case, would much rather him be firing towards the end of the year this year as opposed to last year, where it looked like he was a little burnt out come finals time. Understandable though with it being the first year playing regularly through the midfield and the blistering form he was in.

Will have played only twice in the last four weeks when we meet Sydney, hopefully the break can rejuvenate him, ready to tackle the second half of the year.

Leon's games against the Dogs and Hawthorn and maybe even the one against North Melbourne this year have all been better than Dicky's game against Melbourne.

I think the difference between the Melbourne game and those games is that the Melbourne game could easily have been a loss and as it was we escaped with a draw whereas the games you mentioned for Leon have been comfortable wins, except the dogs game. We would have lost without Dick IMO against Melbourne but I think we would have definitely still won the Hawks and North game without Leon. The dogs game he did play well though but like everyone else went missing in the last.

That may be, but my point is in all of those games listed, I would rate them better than Dicky's individual performance against Melbourne.
They were just examples from this year, when the other poster said none in the last year and a half, I thought that's a bit extreme.

Agreed, I think it is either a case of not remembering Leons season last year or going a bit over the top on the Brad Dick love.

Well everyone does seem to love Dick. :D

I'll wait to see how they both go in the second half of the year before making any judgements.

I hate when people start pumping forward pockets if they have a quiet game thinking something must be wrong in their head. FFS if the ball comes in slow into a crowded forward line forward pockets are screwed.
You wonder why Mile is having a good month, well he's virtually playing one on one in an open fifty mostly running back into open space.

Oh f me to the f people. F me now!

Pretty sure Leon kicked the match winning goal from a tight situation in round 2. Yep, he did.

I don't remember disputing that at any point and don't see the relevance that has to my post. I was replying to the games someone else mentioned. That Melbourne game I don't think Leon played particularly good but he tried, laid tackles and kicked a couple, it was minimum game you'd expect a player of his quality to have playing as a permanent forward.

People carry on about Davis's 2009 finals series like it was an anomally for the year. Yes his form had been better than in previous years but he hit poor form a month out from the finals and never got it back. There were rumours he was carrying a niggle and had run into the ground after his first full season in the middle.

People have criticised his year to date but he's been utilised in an entirely different role than last year as a small forward where it's notoriously difficult to find consistency. This hasn't been helped by a calf injury. Yet he has still played some seriously good football, admittedly sporadically, but even when totally out of form he has been able to play a role for the team with his forward line defensive pressure.

I think he'll be enormously important to us come finals time this year. We seem to be managing him a bit better. I have a feeling we are working him up towards full fitness for a midfield role come finals time where he could really provide us with a touch of class.

the sooner we get rid of davis the better i will feel, the bloke is a front runner and just isnt consistant enough.

For a player who plays in starvation corner, Leon must be the only forward pocket type player who, when he has a bad game, is ridiculed publicly by the media and his game dissected and rubbished. This is getting beyond a joke.

Leon has played many key roles in big game victories for this club, including some big finals, pre 2009. The Adelaide final in 2008 over at AAMI was a Leon special!

No coincidence his best form for the club came when he was part of the midfield rotations. From late last year through to all of this year, he has basically been playing deep in the forward line. Any coincidence his output appears to have dried up?

Have any of these media parasites mentioned this key info when analysing Leon?
