Hoping tha next Season we gets the rub of the green from the maggots as consistently as the dogs did this season...even in the GF..
This will never happen because if we were ever had a free kick count like below in the first 7 rounds the media would make a huge issue about it and continue to make an issue about it until we started getting the rough end of the stick.

19-14, 18-14, 25-21, 30-13, 24-12, 23-14, 28-12 for a total of 167-100

Effing disgraceful...
take the legs out from a swans player nearly rupture his ligaments and its a free to the dog player cos his head was touched by the swans knee...
Exactly like the free McCartin got against Vlastuin, Vlas was just lucky he didn't get injured. Rule brought in by AFL after someone got injured but the umps have forgotten about it.

As much as I hate how the dogs or any team has won the grannie except richmond and the amount of bandwagon fans they have you really got to watch and think

The dogs were almost nowhere two years ago , captain walked out , coach sacked , if that was us it would be crazy . but we learnt is that it can be turned around fast if you get it right with your development and coaching .

Let's be honest the dogs players in that team are filled with almost nobodies . McLean , hambling , cordy , like who are they ? But they have something we don't have which is the mental toughness and resillance . they don't make excuses for injuries etc they get the job done and have a great footy department behind them

One can only hope with balme here we can get the same type of quick turnaround too
Why do you say they were nowhere 2 yrs ago. Some in the media have espoused this myth and it has taken hold and become fact:eek:.

They played finals and were top 4 in 08 09 and 2010. Then under Brendan McCartney who had a great reputation for working with kids went into a rebuild they missed finals in 11, 12 13 and 14 but did the ground work for success in theses yr by adding good players to the core that played finals in those earlier yrs.
16 ? Who played in the premiership were there before Beveridge came to the club. Others who were injured missed the g/f who probably would have played Murphy, Wallis, Crameri, Redpath, Adams, Jong come to mind.
McClean and Cordy are 19 yr olds Hamling was a talented tall who could not get a game at geelong. Most of the rest were either top end draft picks or proven afl players.
What happened was They sacked a coach who unlike us they identified could take them no further. They had a very good player who did not want to be there walk out and they were nowhere ???
As is always the case when you look there is never really a short term fix to these things.

Lesson is it's never as bad as it seems and never as good as it seems. Bullies were spoken about as being a basket case at the end of 14. No coach, no captain, experienced players leaving.... They were nowhere near as bad as what everyone thought having stockpiled a lot of talent through their father sons and by getting some back from their experienced guys who left. Kept many of their older useful guys (Murphy, Boyd, Morris, Minson etc) to help with the kids.... and got the belief back into the players. New coach worked wonders.... even better than the messiah at Port (Hinkley ) but really he had the cattle there already... he just harnessed them. Will the dogs be a powerhouse from here? Who knows....

Do we have some good cattle? I think so. Can we improve on our cattle through trading a few out? Probably if we make the right calls on the right players. I'd love to be all doom and gloom but I think it can turn very quickly.

I'm starting to change my tune on Lids. I think he is a jet. Easily my favourite player. But depending on what we 'could' get for him it may be worth trading him. Provided it isn't Motlop.... I think they are all tradeable except for Martin and Rance. I suspect they'll give this lot one more crack at it though before they look to trade more than 1 of them out.

Maybe the rules TECHNICALLY say that's not allowed, but it's a bullshit rule. The dogs player went in lower and harder.

Yes you are correct...the doggies player went in lower and harder illegally taking out the legs of the swans player...free kick..

Yeah that will turn around our fortunes and we can reverse the arse rippings we copped because of a few frees our way. Like get real FFS. No wonder we get laughed at

Lot to be said about the culture at the dog's I reckon. They just clearly all completely bought in to their gameplan and desperately did whatever they could to implement it. Meant they didn't have to have the best side in it, I mean look at their talls, apart from Boyd (and he only showed up in finals) they aren't outstanding at all.

Their extreme pressing game needs everyone to be 100% committed for it to work, can you imagine us trying to implement that gameplan this year there would be holes and loose players everywhere and we would have been cut to ribbons.

The ones you suggest the umps can turn around for us by paying frees. That way we can turn around say the round 23 result by kicking 14 more goals and stealing it
The umpiring in this game was as about as poor as I've ever seen. And all it's done is distract from the fact that the Doggies were the most committed team on the day. The Swans had too many players down to deserve the win. That said, the Doggies may well have lost the most important game of the year if key decisions went the Swans way. The conversation the League should be having now is how to lift the standard of decision making by those new umpires coming through the system. Facile comments by Derek Humphrey-Smith don't help. Decisions made by umpires can and do shape game results in those rare instances when there is very little between two teams. When it happens in Grand Finals, there's no virtue in avoiding the bleeding obvious.

Believe me dude when the AFL want it to happen ie Cinderella story and all that shit they will make it happen and everyone is in on the script from the umps to the media they will pinpoint a couple of stupid dedicions that were questionable and analyse them and the bleeding obvious, the get ball get tackled and kinda let it get knocked out and **** it just happened to go to your teammate etc is how they get the result they want. They should just say you can throw it out and be done with it. But they can't do that because that will mean they can't crucify teams like us that they know are shit scared of getting pinged because they always get pinged for incorrect disposal. It's been going on for years. The AFL are now desperate to alleviate the strain on their finances by propping up teams like the dogs for a while to minimise the cash they need to hand out to them. It's all about the cash man never think otherwise
