Let the excitement begin!

Well the season is over for Carlton and now we look to the drafts and trade period. I am excited by teh talk of the potential talent in this eyars draft and the thought of culling the list and getting rid of the "dead wood" - Clarke, Bowyer, Bannister, etc.

Russell, Hartlett, Blackwell, Walker, Carrazzo, Bryan, Deluca, Simpson, Livingston, Waite, Fisher, Betts, Raso, Batson, S & A O'hAilpin, Smith, Becker, Thornton, Fevola. They form the core of our future along with this year's crop of draftees. It's exciting times. All of the guys mentioned will be better next year with (hopefully) full pre-seasons and heaps of weight and running training. The experience form this year will help them all and with the crappy players from this year gone the kids should get more of a go next year.

Regardless of where we finish it will be much more exciting IMO to watch Russell, Setanta, Blackwell, Smith, etc running around in teh seniors getting a kick, taking marks and kicking goals rather than watching David Clarke and Glen Bowyer stuffing up time after time.

Come on guys, surely there are others that are looking forward to seeing the above mentioend players and (hopefully) Marc Murphy, Shannon Hurn and others joining the Blues this year along with a Salopek, artel, or Michael through the PSD.

Agree Becker hasn't dome enough to be promoted, Smith on the otherhand might be a chance.

Yes it is. What is it with WC supporters and Carlton draftees?
Theorangeapple (or something like that) keeps posting how crap Raso is and how he could not have grown. Now you are saying Blackwell will take 4 years to play AFL?
I have seen Balckwell play VFL 3 times this year. He is to thin yet but he puts his head over the ball and has fantastic clean hands and vision.
He will play AFL next year. Would have done it this year but broke his jaw.

This guy wouldnt of got picked up at all this year, Carlton simply took him cos he was father/son not because he was any good. If he is your next gun midfielder then id be very worried if i was a Carlton fan. Even I could push this guy around and im half his size, never mind at AFL level, he will go cryin too mummy within the first bouncedown.

he definitely kicked your arse at school. You sound like a jealous weazel who was never good enough to play football at any level let alone the AFL.

I have watched Blackwell closely this year and he is coming along nicely. No one said he was our best midfield but if he turns out to be a good midfield option then we will be happy.

He also was awarded a best on the ground in either the the WAFL Preliminary or grandfinal last year. So he must be ok.

Agree that some of these kids are a season or two away from playing very good senior AFL footy but my point is that I'm more excited about every single player on that list and this year's draftees and PSD pick than Bowyer, Clarke, Morrell, Bannister, etc. Everyone is and I'm sick of hearing about those hacks - the sooner a list of 6-8 delistings is made public then I'll be happy. Looking forward rather than pondering the past year! Smith and Becker, along with Setanta, will both push seriously for promotion I think but probably only Smith and Setanta will be promoted. Nevertheless, Batson, A.O'hAilpin, S.O'hAilpin, Smith and Becker are brighter prospects than the duds we currently have!

Have seen Blackwell in a few games and whilst in the first couple he was very quiet he certainly didnt look scared. In the last game I saw [when he broke his jaw] he was very good. Was very hard at it, had great awareness and disposal and really looked the goods. One game doesn't make him a certainty but he looked a class above the others that day.
