They made it clear they wanted early picks, they were hoping for Cotchin to replace Judd but knew they'd get a great onballer anyway, neither Brown nor Reid addressed that

In event, gettign back to the topic, I would vote NO for Brown if it was for 5 years.

Three years would be OK.

What gave it away Goddy? the exclusive posts about Collingwood or the constant bagging of the price fixing filth :p

yeh kinda dissapointed actually

I liked the idea of a neutral, unobjective person out there who actually praised collingwood.

now you're as bad as us :p

Cloke Rocca Dawes Rusling Reid Anthony.. we need Brown like we need another fat arsed slow midfielder

Cloke is a consistent player without being great.
Rocca will probably retire
Dawes hasn't played yet
Rusling is ultra injury prone/ finished
Reid hasn't shown much at all, needs to learn to kick
Anthony at least has shown something.

Pop a chill pill dude, 2 threads on recruiting
Plus the ones you've posted and deleted, or I've deleted for you. Take a hint.

Forget Jonathan Brown,he has at best maybe 2-3 yaers left max, before his body gives way and will be too slow for the modern game by then.
Remember also he knocks us back, two yewars ago.Why would you want to give up the farm and chaser a player taht hates our club plus has alraedy knocked us back?
LOOK, next year, our forwArd line will have available.Cloke,Rocca,Reid,Rusling,Dawes (the next j.Brown),,didak,davis,medhurst,thomas.
Then we can also rotate,Fraser,Anthony down there if required.
WE DON'T NEED J.BROWN.
We need MIDFIELDERS.
GET COUSINS.KERR-This should be our priority !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys could certainly do with him, but so could about half of the competition. It will come down to which team is willing to give up what, hypothetically what would the Maggies be willing to give up to get him???

alright, Just From The Top Of My Head Over The Years!

N Brown
B Hall
P Everitt
C Judd
J Brown

I Could Go On, All These Players Were Once Linked To The Magpies. I Think They Are All Big Fish.

Regarding Everitt, This Was When He Was In His Absolute Prime In The Early 00s.

lockett

we want a big fish.. what do u think the chances of coaxing jimmy clement out of retirement would be? he would still be good enough imo.. i think he is only 31 and witha season off the repair his body would be in great nick? it sounds far fetched.. but we could take him virtually for nothing as he'd only play for our jumper.. just something out of left field..

p.s if anyone actually knows clement personally could u give him a ring and ask him to entertain the idea...

That is a very good idea.
Id love to have Jimmy back.
He was always so reliable down back.He wouldve stopped Fev both times this year.
Cometh the hour cometh Jimmy!

As for J.Brown, id love him at Collingwood but then again i think we need to chase Cousins harder. I dont think our forwards are the problem at the moment. Its the disposal into the forward line that is shite!
And the lack of pace thru the middle also.
Cuz brings both pace and skill to the table.
Wats the point of Brown up forward w/o the midfield to deliver the ball to him???

Cloke Rocca Dawes Rusling Reid Anthony.. we need Brown like we need another fat arsed slow midfielder

They could all learn a thing or two from a triple premiership player. Rocca's gonna retire after two more years maximum. Imagine Cloke learning the CHF caper from the best in business.

For those that can remember, how good was Saverio Rocca when Brereton was in the forward line?

JB can play at CHF, FF and has had a run in the Midfield on numerous occasions.

Fevola winning colemans in a team that finished bottom foward, whilst WCE won a premiership with a lack luster foward line but dominant midfield would be the best example of a couple things. A) Your key foward doesn't matter one bit if your midfield is poo. B) Landing a big name foward won't make us a premiership threat whilst our midfield is still hopeless.

Trading away a packet for Brown could very well lead us to end up in a situation like Carlton was recentally. I.E Good foward, few kids with potential and holes in the list so big you could fit the whole Whitnal family in them.

Exactly!

Thats what I said in my opening statement.

Our fowardline would be great, our midfield would continue to be woeful and we would be futher away from a flag then when we actually made the trade. MIDFIELD is where the game is one and lost and ours is in dire need of a makeover, not our foward line

The last 3 premiers had very good fowards in their own rights but I don't think any of them were superstars Hall, Mooney and Hansen. What they served and what is the most important thing for a side is that they straightened the team up and presented well. If your midfield is good enough and you have enough avenues to goal that is all you need. With our small fowards and Cloke and Medhurst we have a player who straightens us up, and a lot of avenues to goal what we don't have is a midfield to get it to them with the accuracy required.

Lynch kicked 65 in the Eagles premiership year. No star, actually not real good, but you only have to have a great season at the right time, as he did, and it might help kicked your side over the line. Especially with Hansen there too. Again no superstar but two guys performing well in the same year and ending up with a flag.

What would Collingwood be prepared to give up to get Brown?

Thats probably the most difficult question.

You managed to get Buckley from Brisbane many many years ago, Im not sure that will be as easy as that deal, from memory didnt you trade 3 players for Buckley????

collingwood should be prepared to give whatever brisbane want.... we are rubbish, and the young guys who we thought would be great... just aren't! dale thomas can go, give away marty clarke, see ya later goldsack, toodaloo ben reid... anyone for a quality leader like brown.... ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are in dire straights people!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Just got back from the game, and if tonight doesn't prove we need someone like Brown, NOTHING WILL!

Absolutely PATHETIC PIES!!

Brown wouldn't have stopped Mitchell, Bateman and Hodge carving us a new one. We need to upgrade the midfield, not the key forward set-up.

We have alot of issues at the moment, but getting Brown is gathering momentum.

Hope we can turn our development around as some players are going backwards. I was pretty confident at the start of the season who was going to be traded or off the list at years end, now i think a few more names will be added, which i don't like as i think they have what it takes.

I would be happy with MM to play the kids now, i just want to see a kid like Dawes, Macca or Barham get a run - stanley seems to even just be starting to come on - give them a game we've tried everything else...

No one want's to deal with Eddie!! So forget about any big name player's coming to the club! If we are lucky we might just pick up another Bryan!

brown is my favorite player in the comp but as long as our midfield gets slaughtered like it has in the last few weeks we could have brown carey and ablett all in there prime and we still what not win.

I would give away our top 4 draft picks plus ben reid and leon davis to try and secure kerr, cousins and prismall. With Dawes showing massive improvement in recent weeks, cloke, hopefully rusling and can recover plus didak, medhurst and thomas if we had a midfield like that we would be very hard to beat. Wood will be better in the ruck next year and our backline depsit looking ordinary will be alot better next year(especially if we dont get flogged in the midfield). I honestly believe if we could pull something like that off we would be a big chance to win a flag in the next couple of years.

we dont have to trade for him right? simply offer him a good contract.

if thats the case, get it done!!
We don't have to trade for him, if he decides to screw the club he was drafted to under the F/S rule, won three premierships with and played as captain for, by going into the PSD.

Not going to happen in 1,000,000 years.

With our midfield JB is going to be an angry man with all the miskicks. Agree that the last few weeks have proven just how important Rocca is to us, but with Reid and Dawes I'd like to think we don't need another tall forward. They might not have done or doing much this year, but they'll be there next year or in the mix at least. We really need to work on the middle part of the ground.

We need gun midfielders with pace and skill more like Kerr than Brown.
