I'm squeemish, so I'm not gonna click the link but what event was he doing? How'd he do it?

Bubka was similar from memory. Absolute dominant pole vaulter and athlete but kept stuffing up Olympics
Mike Powell too. Dominant long jumper before and after Atlanta but was beaten by Carl Lewis

I think you'd be ignorant to assume all Aussie athletes were clean. I know we like to think so, but it just ain't true. An entire AFL side engaged in this conduct.

We simply don't know who is and who isn't
This isn't determined by country of origin. Those who are caught generally have access to poor advice and/or less advanced drugs.

I think we should shelve the innuendos aimed at other athletes.

Italy I believe
France.

Yes Bubka won 6x world championships in dominant fashion but consistently failed at the Olympics (Barcelona and Sydney didn't even clear a single attempt).

Powell won the 91 and 93 world championships (setting a world record that still stands) but got silver at Atlanta.

^ fair point but it's a bit sus when someone wins their first Olympic medal and obliterates the WR at their 4th Olympics. Especially in something like swimming where they generally win as teenagers and retire young. Maybe one of the events like equestrian, archery etc but not something like swimming

Kieran Perkins won silver in the 1500m at his 4th olympics. Not a WR, but pertinent.

American olympians have been caught using steroids too. Should we doubt every one of their world records/gold medals from now until the end of time too? Just give credit where credit is due and if her tests happen to come back positive, then you can start the mudslinging.

Otherwise you just come across as an ignorant bigot.

The US aren't involved in state-sponsored doping though, as the Eastern Bloc is/has been notorious for.

As I said, if she's clean, good on her, but questions should be asked.

How do you know they aren't? They may well be and just haven't been caught yet. After all, the US has the latest tech in just about anything. You're not one of those people that believe everything they read from the MSM are you?

You're funny - I barely even read the MSM.

Difference being that in countries like ours and the US there's people determined to catch cheats. Places like Russia everyone turns a blind eye even officials.

Its not true. America are and always have been the biggest drug cheats in the world. all the best science comes from there, most of the big pharmaceuticals are based in america and heavily involved in sport. Pharmaceutical companies are probably the biggest fraudsters in capitalism. Seriously.

look at the american election, the corruption in that country is rife, is a matter of public knowledge.

Maybe for people who only pay attention to swimming for 1 week every 4 years and therefore measure an entire career's achievement based solely on what they do in the Olympics.

"She's never won anything before and NOW she's doing this?"

Anyone who actually knows about swimming knows she has been very, very good for a long time, but had never put her best foot forward at the Olympics for a long time.

"She's won everything else and NOW she's got the full set."
