i think the EF loss took a heavy toll on us last year! you could sense it thru the pre season!
The thing that gets me is that the team that beat us in the Elim last year by a modest 17 points is now, a few months later, high and mighty on top of the ladder undefeated and we are limping along at 1 and 4!
I mean WTF - they were meant to be loaded up with last gasp veterans and our demographic was showing a core entering their prime!
It's not like we have missed the bus, the whole ****ing Greyhound fleet is a 1000km up the highway blowin smoke!

Tipping we finish about 14th just ahead of Brisy, freo, blooz and dons. The rest of the comp will kick our arses. The coach will relax with his contract extension and get benny to sell the "were playing kids" to the board and everything will be aok in 2017. Rnd 5 2017 we are 1&4 again with no kids to bring in just old hacks we allowed to linger on for too long.

Same old richmond..........

Time to be ruthless again and run the broom through the bloody place. Our recruiters and development coaches need to be shot. Not by us though as we couldnt hit a target 10m away. Better bring someone in for that.....

Wow...with hindsight he sounds very delusional. Couldn't find the mention of not following instructions but he does talk about the players taking control more with the planning and preparation leading up to the game.

That was a cracker of a game. I lost my voice that day :thumbsu:
He has lost the players I have been banging on about but what would I know about coaching;)

Yeah Hardwick said something along the lines of thay this isn't how they are usually told to play if I remember correctly.

I remember that game. They just did whatever and played a fast brand of footy. I think we played a slingshot style? Not sure

Don't stress I'm just a hater and a troll , there are more little gems but some on here Helen Wheels will hate me for derailing the thread

Thank you for finding it it's a pity the replay didn't sit on the quarter time huddle

i think he has lost the players, like sunshine tiger rekons too! i think hardwick spat the dummy hard after our EF loss and has embarked on changing things up this year which so far isnt working and the players aint happy. i think he needed a cooler head and realized we were still in the game with 5 mins to go and were one dodgy free kick from possibly winning. i think he has thrown the baby out with the bath water so to speak.

What happened there? I can't remember
There was a disagreement with Jack at quarter time from where I was sitting it appeared they had a difference of opinion regarding how they were playing, I don't get to many games because I'm overseas and from where I am it's three plane rides down but was there at that game and found it a strange scene,

Then in the second quarter we had a totally different style, at the time I thought where did that come from

My thoughts at the time were the players have taken control of the style it was too big a contrast from what we were dishing up until that break

We haven't hit a first round pick since Dusty who was a better player in his first season than any of the 6 we have taken since.

Instead we have a bunch of first picks either just inside or just outside our best 22, despite the fact a few of them are always selected by Hardwick.

Its always a roller coaster. Thats the only certainty i know with the club.

At least we arent freo, minor premiers to cellar dwellers in 6 months.

Its our normal start imo.
We try to play a slow controlled gamestyle while the opp destroy us with fast direct football with fresh legs coming off the preseason, the coaches then get us playing more direct football too late which takes a few weeks to get right and regain some confidence. Soon the games slow and we can then again play our defensive gamestyle as we continue working our way up the ladder before we are eventually kicked out of finals in week 1 as the opp class increase beyond our retreads ability.

IMO the real problem with this is (like with Freo) the controlled gamestyle takes older heads to pull off and its hard to bring through the youth who need a less rigid gamestyle to allow them the flexibility to play on instinct.

With the new rules opening up the game more Im not sure our retreads or tailor made gameplan are going to work anymore.

But what else is Dimma supposed to do with the 'talent' our recruitment hand him and the tiger ferals breathing down his neck. An attacking gamestyle didnt work in '13 so we change to a defensive style which nets the same result. I would much prefer to use our homegrown youth with an attacking gamestyle than retreads and a defensive stoppage plan thats never going to win a flag anyway.

I'm shocked to be reading negative things about Dimma in this thread!

I can't fathom that with a list as young as ours that we couldn't pick up where we left off In 2015 where we won 15 games and took some bloody decent scalps. The only person that could shape the team bw seasons is the coach and he needs to be held to account ,,,,right now in front of the board explaining wtf has gone wrong

Not sure if you're serious or taking the piss

I'm serious , with the results we had last year and average age of our best players, how could this happen, I'm very critical of how the side has been prepared and came into season. 2016 looking like one of the worst sides out there

Nah, no such luck this time around.

Our skills now are abysmal, we look slow, indecisive and weak. The teams we had covered over the past 3 years have caught up and overtaken us. We'll win a few against other basket cases, and maybe pinch a couple of other surprise packets. 7-15 by the end of the year. Where does that get us? 13th? 14th?
The thing is, in this current form, where do you see us getting those other 6 wins to even make it to 7?

Apart from the 9-0 run which was one in a million I don't remember us being this far out of form last year even with our poor start.

Too many out of form, too many youngsters and a game plan completely misfiring can't see it happening and to be honest if we lose this week we need to find out if Lennon, McBean and Elton can play. They should be given games to see if they've got what it takes.
What even is our game plan? Does anyone on here know what the boys are trying to do? I can't figure it out.
