I'm ambidextrous... probably about 60/40 so it's all a slice to me :D:thumbsu:
Really? I'm almost 50/50. Not many of us around... It took me a year to work out that I was switching hands in tennis, that's why I was getting better very very slowly.

it took me a little bit to work out my balance but once I got that done... kicking on the run with either foot was cool.

The tennis bit was fun when I worked out that I was ambidextrous :D

I find playing darts a lot of fun... if I am out hustling :D

Yeah it took a few years to develop, but it was worth it. Changing hands as a fast bowler tends to be fairly effective. So does writing with both hands during exams, although I did get accused of cheating because of two types of handwriting. And yet I still do things like try to open bottles left handed.

Thats the only thing that screws it up for me being closer to 50/50... the writing left handed. I grew up in an era where writing with the left hand was a sure sign that you were evil so the nuns would force us to write right handed. My eldest sister (2 years under me) also grew up in the same era and is also ambidextrous. All our other siblings are left handed...

The look on people's faces here when you pick up chopsticks in your left hand...

I find it funny how a lot of people have backflipped on this kid. It's not as though he didn't get chances. His kicking was horrid, yes, but it beats having a forward that can't get his hands on it.

Honestly really looking forward to next year. Levi was begging to just be given a game, and now that he has a few under his belt, he knows what is required at AFL level. I am very hopeful that Luke Mitchell will have a solid pre-season and possibly look at a debut in the second half of next season, and then there's Sam Rowe who hopefully will get a gig next year.

Heads up.
Yes well said.

Josh Kennedy wasn't a great kick either was he? He has a very odd skippy run up now, but he found what works for him.

Levi's ball grip is very strange and I have no idea how it came about but if his technique is so obviously flawed than in theory it shouldn't be too hard to fix over time. I'd rather he have bad technique than nervous yips. He doesn't drop his head, good on him.

The position of the hands is just like Fev's... and if he was a Fev fan as a kid, he would be using Fev's technique to drop the ball

I joked about that the other day but now I know Levi was actually a Carlton supporter as a kid ( :D ) it's actually quite possible.

So if he could just learn to kick it like Fev did, I'm all for it lol.

I had a good look at Levi's kicking action at Metricon last weekend and it has some very fundamental but fixable flaws. Maybe it's his soccer background, but he swings his leg violently from right to left during the kicking action. The second major flaw is that he doesn't guide the ball down with his right hand, instead he does the under 10's or "girl" double hand release, leading to a wonky drop. Couple the two and it's not hard to see why he sprays it. Still, it SHOULD be fixable, quite easily I would imagine.

But the boy can clunk it. He's just a fantastic contested mark. So much to work with and if he can get his kicking sorted out I can't see why he couldn't kick 50+ for the next 5 - 10 years.

He has been in the system for three years. I would have to assume that the standard of his kicking was noticed pretty early in the piece, and some sort of work has been done on it. And it aint fixed yet that is for sure.

Kicking is the most important skill in today's game: hitting targets and kicking goals. If you can't do it you cost your team, as on Saturday night. Players who can't kick can not play AFL level footy no matter how well they mark or compete.

I would love Levi to start kicking it like Fev but I do think we have to be realistic of his chances of improving enough to make it. A very long shot for mine but not impossible so I will maintain hope. He is definitely a good kid.

Accuracy aside, he can sure roost the ball. That's something at least. IF he can work on his kicking enough, the rest of his tools are very nice indeed.

Mind you Matt Boyd has somehow done pretty well with his horrible kicking but then he can get away with using his handballs more.

This worshipping of Fev's kicking strikes me as odd. Am I the only one who remembers him having days where he would kick something like 2.5?

Well true he did have off-days. But my memory is he had more days where he would be deadly accurate than days he didn't.

Still, you know what memories can be like

Whilst he has been in the system three years, please bear in mind that he has spent a good portion of that recovering from two PCL's which would have obviously hampered his ability to work on his kicking technique and may even have worsened it.

His poor technique is certainly cause for concern though and it's pretty damning evidence that our development of youth isn't up to par. Hopefully with a serious end of season shake up we make development a major priority.

To see someone with the natural talent that Levi has kicking the ball like a 10 year old is embarrassing for him and the club. Hell, if Karmichael Hunt and Issy Folau can kick straight after 12 months, why can't Levi?

Getting a bit side-tracked here, but our development has worried me for some time now. That being said, I believe in Rock the Casboult and I reckon that not only will he make it, he'll be one of the best big forwards going around in a couple of years.

Yeah I agree that there is some chance of getting it right. Setanta is a great example of someone learning to kick well from scratch, even if not all that stylishly. And look at how Tommy Hawkins has gone from sprayer to deadeye dick. My fingers are crossed, along with my toes. And eyes but that's from reading too many posts on BF.

Put Levi & Kreuze in a room together - tell them they are not allowed to come out until Kreuze teaches Levi how to kick and Levi teaches Kreuze how to mark. Problem solved.
Lol not bad.

Mind you Kreuze can kick a fair wobbler, but they are more often than not pretty straight... rarely shanks a kick.

I think Kreuze's hands are okay but Levi could certainly teach him about body use in a marking contest.

Just don't know about this bloke. Can take a grab but I cringe every time he has a shot at goal. How much work have we put into him? 3 years?? If hammer, Mitchell, Waite and Rowe were fit is this guy even close to a look in? I question whether it's worth having a bloke who can clunk it but can't get it through the big ones.

I know what you're saying but he's had what, 5 senior games? Too many positives to hang him on the one negative, albeit that its a pretty major one. As others have mentioned he's had serious leg injuries for the majority of time he's been on the list as well.

Will surely be working long and hard on his kicking this off-season, he deserves more games and I'd be astounded if he didn't get them.

Might be a big call, but I would take him in over Hammer at the moment. And geez there is some hype on Mitchell for a bloke yet to play a senior game, would be fantastic if its justified but surely the guy who has produced at least something in the 1s is in front of a guy who hasn't even played yet. Rowe, thought he looked just ok in pre-season matches, certainly not the level Casboult reached in just a few home and away games.

Turns out Levi lacerated his kidney on saturday night:
Levi Casboult, who suffered a lacerated kidney in the Gold Coast contest, is considered unlikely.

Carlton General Manager - Football Operations Andrew McKay said Casboult was hospitalized on Monday night after experiencing pains in his back and abdomen.
Opportunity to let the big Squid debut!

Would ok kicked all 5 of Levi's misses I suspect, but yes he was a bit wayward early on but either worked hard at it or got some great help or advice with his technique.

Just dont think they concentrated enough on this area in todays football, not enough specialised advice or time to practice in match simulation training drills.
