have a couple of concerns with some guys in our team who arnt hard enough and i dont want another repeat of the 2003 shit they displayed!!
brad dick is the first. cant tackle and make a contest when it counts
wellingham goes in with one hand
fraser is a disgrace and is holding back the team!! NO HEART!!!

Brad Dick agreed, Wellingham has been good and in big games, cant understand the soft tag he gets, was average today but can see him standing up in the finals.
Fraser very harsh i think, not a good game today and killed in the ruck but another big game player who will come good.
FWIW i think Wood needs to be no1 ruck, looks better than Josh when in there and doesnt suit him playing 1/3 of the game in the ruck needs to be the main man for us to be a better looking team.
Where this leaves Josh i dont know but Wood is the better option in the pure ruckmans role.

yer well when we kicked those first 4 goals in the 3rd quarter, wood was in the ruck, and killed it. fraser comes back on, dogs get the next 4.

his movement was slow, toughness was pathetic and his ruck work is none present!! i think an early retirement wouldnt hurt him!!

Seriously, back off of Josh Fraser.

We could not win a final without Josh Fraser.

That was his 2nd game back after minor knee surgery, he will only get better.

My concerns are the 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd player in our side, we need 22 players to beat Stkilda and be a serious flag contender.

Tonight;

19th; Wellingham; Did ok tonight, But I worry about his slight frame and lack of defensive ability in September
20th; Goldsack; Also did ok tonight, but Leigh Brown is a better option for September, or even Marty Clarke
21st; Dick; Has he played a good game for 10 weeks? Since he got injured and missed 2-3 games, he has done nothing at either VFL or AFL level. He is Leon Davis of 2002, Leon had no stats in a GF, Dick would be similar.
22; McCarthy; WHERE THE **** WAS SIDEBOTTOM. Seriously, how does a bloke who has played 2 1/2 games get a game ahead of our no.1. draft pick who has dragged the reserves into the finals with 3 BOG's in a row.

That's my view, we need 22 contributing players to play and win finals football, tonight we had under 20, and some senior players with poor performances added to that.

My replacements;

19th; Leigh Brown, Finals Footballer, built for the physical style of game, and can play forward, ruck or back. A certainty next week.
20th; Pendleury; Not really 20th player, but easy replacement.
21st; Clarke; In our best 22, time to stop worrying about his trip to Ireland and play him.
22; Sidebottom; We may never know if this kid could play finals football this year, as he just should have played tonight to find out. McCarthy was never a finals chance, Steel is, but may not get his chance due to doubts over his AFL form so far.

Just need to calm down. The game was played in 2nd gear. There were no moves made to win the game.

Prime example. Nick Maxwell could've fixed Murphy up big time during the game, but pulled out.

Their minds are on next week.

I'm not a huge Goldsack fan, but he was better than ok. Made several big "plays".

Torn on this one. Still applies good pressure, and I think our forward-line badly needs it with Medhurst unfit, but his form hasn't been great. Would probably drop him at this stage.

22; McCarthy; WHERE THE **** WAS SIDEBOTTOM. Seriously, how does a bloke who has played 2 1/2 games get a game ahead of our no.1. draft pick who has dragged the reserves into the finals with 3 BOG's in a row.

He got a game because he's a better player atm than Sidebottom. Played reasonably well, and should stay in.

I think North fans might have a chuckle or 2 at "finals footballer", but he might have to come in against the Saints unfortunately.
21st; Clarke; In our best 22, time to stop worrying about his trip to Ireland and play him.

Agreed, absolutely no-brainer swap in for Ben Johnson.

For mine changes for next week

Goldsack/toovey for one of the Brown. Personally i would drop sack
McCarthy out for pendlebury (he wasnt that good today, looke like it was his third game of the year)
Wellingham/johnson out for Clarke(both were outside, made disposal errors and deserve dropping. Dont care which stays)
Dick out for Sidebottom

What i expect to happen
Sack out Leroy in
Jmac out pendlebury in
Dick out sidebottom in

surprise surprise one loss and the negative threads are back seriously neither team seemed as if they were going full ball and we experimented a lot. Wellingham + Dick have been a bit down over the last couple of weeks but then again they were both very good prior to that. Fraser wasn't that bad the second week is usually the hardest for most players coming back for the injury and all things being equal he played alright. Where in the top 4 and have at least two weeks of finals to look forward too, hopefully 4, Be Happy people we have a lot to be positive about

CAMERON WOOD - if he is meant to be the answer to our ruck problems, god help us all!!

Here is one who needs to be looked at;

Dale Thomas; when was the last time he took the game on? He plays way too safe, all his kicks go sideways or backwards these days.

Thought the exact same thing.

If that were a final, Maxwell would have ironed him out- ball and man.

I think i have heard it all. We finally have a midfielder with some sort of acceleration and now everyone wants wellingham gone.

If people think he's soft then look at shane o'bree. dead set useless and will a liability in finals as he isnt finding the ball near stoppages. Alan Toovey is slowly becoming a a very decent footballer. Murphy got some grabs on him but i think he is improving every week.

With changes for next week, logic would say Leigh Brown has to play because he been there the whole year but there just isnt a match up for him. Sidebottom for McCarthy and Pendlebury for Dick.

Fraser and Leon didnt look interested at all today. And thumbs up to Heath Shaw. Love the way that man plays and he is definitely our most important player!

Agree on Frasers game tonight. He was absolutely terrible tonight. You could just see the game change momentum when he was in the ruck - we got smashed in the clearances.

But sh!t man - early retirement!!! are you stoned??? More like second game blues. Give the man a chance. We'll need him as a second ruck in the finals - his best is so much better than that.

Not the player himself, but Travis Cloke's kicking for goal is a liability. At least now I'm resigned to that fact and don't expect him to kick a goal when he has a setshot.

Mate you have only just started to expect this? His kicking is getting worse and worse. Looks so tense every time he kicks for goal. Some one should just tell him to loosen up a little

Goldsack to stay in, is better than Toovey and doesn't deserve to get dropped, played his role nicely, will take Milne tip rat..

Toovey was one of our better players last night and has played some pretty important roles this year.

He would be a much better match up for the smalls in the St.Kilda side than Goldy.

I didn't think he was that great last night but over the year has done some great jobs. His most important job will come on Sunday when he will get Milne or Schneider, both have to be stopped. I think he would suit Schneider as he can follow him up field and stop his run & delivery to the big fellas.

I'm guessing it's because Rusty has the runs on the board this year. MM knows what he brings, JMac has been injured so i think this was the last chance he could get to impress, and for mine he did impress. Was 10 times better than Dick.
Dick has to be dropped, he's not quick, not as skillful as he gets talked up and is small. I wouldn't mind putting JMac in the HF line instead of Dick.

I am sorry to sound like a broken record, but Collingwood will not win a flag whilst Johnson gets a game, will not man up and will not chase as shown yesterday when he left Fraser to chase eagleton. I believe O'Bree will again be a liability in big games. Disagree with comments re Toovey and Wellingham thought both were reasonable yesterday, especially Toovey
