we all know we've got a few too many scrawny guys goin round the training track.

Just interestingly -

In 2011 we averaged 86 kg per player. 15 of the 17 teams in the comp averaged between 85 to 87 kg, so all pretty much of a muchness.

The only two clubs to weigh more were the grand finalists: Collingwood (88) and Geelong (89).

We need pie nights every Thursday after training.

We put a lot of cash into extra coaches so hopefully a few on our list who have stagnated can work on a few technical issues. I don't believe you can become a good kick so late in your career, but a better technique and improved decision making he'd be at least servicable. I think other sides of his game are good but his kicking at the moment is so bad that he's a liability.

Good point. No point in putting extra money in coaching and development staff, and not to expect an improvement in at least some players. Rance was the one that i felt really gained by having Leppa down there. It seems Daly had a fair part in taking a very inaccurate JR to being very accurate. Sometimes it just needs the right person to work with a player, to make something click.

i reckon king made huge improvements in his kicking late ,i remember king a worse kick than edwards at same age.

Why do u think players running full tilt sometimes kick it on their shin or off the side of t he boot? Ive seen Judd do it. Doesnt mean hes a bad kick if you havent been in the pressure cooker you got no idea. Wouldnt write Edwards off just yet at 23 just needs some time.

Everyone was singing Edwards praises after 2010, and now at the back end of 2011 he's not so popular. I think he's still pretty close to a certain starter if fit and will be a part of our midfield rotation, so the haters better start reconciling themselves with the fact that they're going to be seeing a bit of him.

Hopefully he'll recapture his best form in 2012 and we can go back to bagging Grigg/Jackson/White/Nahas etc etc.

he definetly needs to improve his kicking and awareness to be in the best 22 in 2012.
he was a terrible kick this year, and it was a very sad moment when he got pinged for holding the ball after running into another richmond player and falling over.....

lets hope he can do it

i wonder how much the 22 players who played the most games averaged.
or how about the players who played 10 or more games.

nope not everyone.

it hilarious what happens. you have a player underperforming terribly and he has one season that is just passable and that season is written up as fantastic.

he was still a poor kick in in 2010 and hes still a poor kick now.
jake king is a poor kick his kicking at goal has improved but fffs these small types should be really polished players and they are not.

lol at comments about jack. jack was always a good kick despite one poor yr in this area.

why do people think the mantra has become we only draft good kicks. its simple poor kicks in the main do not improve or only marginally.

under pressure 18 yrs of bad habits cant be suppressed. set shot goal kicking can be fixed to a large degree as you have time and can go thru the routine you have been shown.

at 180cm and 23 yrs of age edwards will not gain in size or improve his kicking dramatically. people can hope but they will be hoping in vain.

i've been hoping in vain that you might say something positive once in a while :(

barring injury Edwards will finish top 10 in the B&F easily

I suppose it's a free world but I'd love a bit of optimism.

Picking on the wrong cattle.

The bloke's trying his guts out while we sit in the upperdeck looking down.

How many players are on your bad list Santa 20?

"I told you so" when one of them gets delisted?

Cmon mate.

Are we that bad?

Reality is something that alot dont take to kindly to dude.
We are improving yes, all be it marginally, but you need to understand that when you watch the benchmarks, that is the list you need to have, before reality is then taken a different way.
When the claws suggests stuff, its something that you, me and a hell of alot of others know is real. We all know they try their guts out, we also know that we have had truckloads of triers over the stretch. What we also know is that we need are polished triers who dont make errors, or minimal errors.
The benchmark teams limit their errors, because they have by and large players who dont make them. ;)

there's always a little bit of an each way bet in the negativity too.

Example: "Player A is a dud, delist, happy to be proven wrong"

you win (in your own brain anyway) whether the player succeeds or fails. but if i didn't know better i'd swear some posters much prefer to be negative

in a couple of years when the young cubs are flying and the club is making serious noise come september, then we'll see what some of the more negative posters have to say for themselves.

so what will that say about our top 10 our recruiting our list management and development.

edwards is a deficient footballer. he always will be. now for some hes a passable sort of player for others hes a glass half full who must be replaced.
i dont need to see small players running around for 6 yrs to know what they can do or are likely to produce.

im on a bit of a theme atm. if we sent him back to coburg will he dominate and lead from the front. will his skills miraculously fix themselves.
this bloke is at his ceiling or close to it. his best is good enough but hes not capable of playing at his best just a small drop away and he becomes another below standard player. this is what happens.
