Seeing Brain on the Swans best list stings a little. Good luck to the lad though. Loving the fact our ressies are playing and performing against quality opposition this year. Much easier to put stock in 2nds form with the new setup.

Any particular reason that you guys didn't pick up Brain? From what I've seen he looks a decent midfielder, good size, good skills, perhaps lacks something extra to make him sand out from the pack.

Couldn't tell you mate. Mr Ripper, or possibly Quigley, would be the best people to direct that question to.

I support the new set up also but I would note that the Lions Reserves came second last in QAFL 2010. The fact that they got smashed a few times last year came up in their review hence a full time reserves coach for the first time and assistasnt coaches, not to mention the relationship with the Western Magpies.

The Lions also lost Clarke in the opening minutes of the third quarter with a broken collarbone, losing a man who was proving a difficult match-up for the Swans.

No no no no no no!:( Hopefully its S Clarke rather than X Clarke.

Edit not 'hoping' anything nasty on S Clarke either.
Edit 2- on a second reading does sound like S Clarke. Anyhoo.

Wasn't Xavier - I happened to read his tweet before the main the game that he had got through his second game in a row.

Cheers for the link. Early impressions from the first bit of a reserves game I've seen. McKeever and McCulloch have super agility and Karnezis and ACorn are a pretty impressive forward combination.

The NEAFL website has a report and results up within a day or two of each game, here.

Brisbane Lions
Goal Kickers: P. Karnezis 4, A. Cornelius 3, R. Bewick 2, X. Clark , M. Green , B. McCulloch
Best Players: R. Harwood, P. Karnezis, R. Bewick, A. Raines, C. Mitchelhill, B. McCaulay

I would pay to see that every week, great to see some of our developing lads. Thanks Mr Ripper for the link.

I agree with jackess- McKeever's pace and agility were great to see for a bloke as big as him, as well as his courage to go for a run. The only query on him is his disposal- it was pretty poor for the whole game- regular watchers could tell me- is he normally ok, or is this something he's still working on?

We looked ok in the centre clearances with Broc and Harwood doing some good work, but the delivery into the forward 50 was abominable and we got pounded on the rebound.

When the delivery into the forward line was clean both Karnezis and Acorn looked pretty good.
