Collingwood takes four picks into the 2010 NAB AFL National Draft - currently picks 44, 45, 60 and 77.

Hmm. Still taking it in.:p

So Blight is confirmed gone and Young and Keeffe were promoted as expected. 6 additions to the senior list, so that means we'll be taking 3 selections in the National Draft?

Edit: missed the bit at the end of your post there. 4 picks. Interesting.

Interesting to see Tom Young go straight onto the senior list. Ditto Keeffe.

Scott Reed can probably count himself a little stiff to miss promotion.

As for the changes, cannot say I disagree about any of them.

No surprise in the Young decision, the kid is going to be a gun, and he may even play senior football in 2011.

Likewise Keefe, does anyone think the Keefe promotion points towards Presti retiring?

can teams only have 1 NSW rookie? just wondering if this is why Tom Young was put straight onto the senior list. maybe it was a choice between Young or Reed?

WELCOME TO COLLINGWOOD TOM YOUNG (OFFICIALLY).:D:thumbsu:

For those who don't know what Tom Young looks like;

Rookie list is different to scholarship list.

If we wanted to we could rookie list 6 kids from NSW, but clubs were only allowed to scholarship list a certain number of players (I think it was 5, someone will know).

Letting Blight go is a Massive Mistake by the Club in my Mind

Really? The guy seemed to have talent, but a lot of mental problems. Wasn't he ridiculously home sick, and also would not play unless he was 100% fit? Apparently if he had so much as a scratch he'd sit it out. Sometimes talent is destroyed by those mental problems. For example Alberto Aquilani who could not play through a rolled ankle (not strained, just rolled).

Correct me if my mail is wrong though.

No Nick Perry or Jarrad Witts?
I may be wrong Dave, but I thought they were still too young to be drafted, hence they will still be under the NSW scholarship "sector" of our list.

Not 100% sure though.

Edit; I am wrong, they both have just turned 18, I think we can rookie them through the rookie draft this year as NSW rookies.

considering no one else wanted him in trade week, he may not get the chance to prove you right Dave.

IMO it's not purely talent related, off field, mentality, desire, personality, homesickness etc must have played a part in the decision.

I'll be interested to see if he trains with us, he could possibly be rookied.

Could both get rookied. But unlikely either do.

Tom Young. No surprised he goes straight onto our senior list after the season he had at VFL level. Earned a position on the senior list. On quality probably top 40 in this draft, so no reason for him not to go straight onto the senior list.

That was my thinking.

Maybe with the list changes they are prepared to let him go to a better offer but will offer him a rookie spot if no one takes him to continue his development.

Thats pretty close to how I saw it panning out. I'm dissapointed to see Blight go but it seems he didn't have his heart in playing footy in Melbourne. A shame but I'm sure the club knows what it is doing. Keeffes promotion points to one of Presti retiring or Anthony leaving. I think we may see Presti retire.

Scholarship holders are only outside the list for their first season. The catch here is that rookies are given a minimum two year contract meaning unless you want to pay out the second year of their contract you are commiting to putting them on the official rookie list in their second year.

I have not heard that. I heard he had Problems with an Ankle.

I have heard he did not fit in well with the Playing Group but I could be very wrong

I too was surprised when i heard we were looking to cut Blight. But how many times, since MM has been coach, has a player that's been cut by the club gone on to play good football somewhere else? The only one i can think of is Jason Roe though there may be others. MM is a very good judge of a footballer once they're in our system so I trust his judgement.

Also I believe the reason there was no interest in Blight during trade week is that any prospective club to pick him up would more than likely rookie list him. So they didn't want to waste a senior list spot by doing a late pick trade like we did with the Lions for Corrie.
