Pull that apart, post your own 25,who will break in
by years end and who will drop out?
We still look alright on paper every chance top 4.And good luck to those trying to break in to the side.

Personally I'd have Pods a bit further down.
We saw in the GF how well we can play without him.
I'm not doubting his value to the team and I am a massive fan, but I think Mackie, Lonners and maybe even Menzel/Bundy will be more important this year.

Hoping Mitch Brown can come good from injury and break through.

Yeah could have placed him anywhere 10 to 16, the middle section of the the list is very fluid,
Your point on GF day, won't have been missed by the coaching staff and we may see Pod play a little higher up the ground, there by dragging a key opersition back with him and isolating Hawk in more one on one contests deep with the crumbers in Stokes,Varcoe,Chapman and Johnson creating havoc at ground level.

I can't wait.

I think I'm most excited to see Hawkins to be honest. I want to see him develop into the power forward he can be.
What a beautiful sight it would be.

Here's hoping the Hawk keeps improving, not expecting him to play every game like he has in the final series this year.

Mitch Brown must start playing senior footy 2012, been at the club 3 years already and was a number 1 draft pick.
If he was worth that selection, next season he must step up and justify his contract.
If not, reckon he's finished.

That's my list and I think Smedts, T.Hunt, Vardy (injury setback:(), Cowan and Brown will be pushing for a spot in the top 22 by finals time.

Gee he's the man with the wheelbarrow meto, first he's got to get the body right for AFL footy then force his way into the side.
I think his contract was up end of 2011 so you would think he is now signed to end 2013 minimum but I'm only taking an educated guess there and if that's the case they may give him a bit more time.

Pretty harsh man, I reckon that call is still a while off yet for Brown. I think he's been pretty good when he's been able to get on the ground.

West, Hogan and Simpson (who's played only one more game than Brown) have been given longer that what you are giving Brown, and they did not show as much potential. Motlop and Gillies from the same draft aren't exactly beating down the door yet either, and have had more opportunities to play without injury than Brown, yet both have only played a few more games than Brown.

If his draft position still has any relevance at all, being a first rounder, and considering his bad luck with injuries (and what the injuries were), could mean he is worth perservering with more than the others, IMO.

Just to add the that, I also remembered the club backing him after he did his shoulder this year....

http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/2011/07/05/horror-run-continues-for-young-cat/

"Unfortunately, Mitch is going to need surgery on that shoulder," Scott explained.

"There was an option for him to persist through, but Mitch is a really important long-term player for us.

"We think he can play 10 years of AFL footy for the Geelong footy club, so we're going to take a long-term approach and take our time with his rehab.

"We'll get the surgery done as quickly as possible and look to get him up and running for a full pre-season."

---

"He's very disappointed," Scott said.

"But, also, he understands that we have faith in him and we're going to stick by him.

"While the short-term is devastating for him, the long-term is still very promising."

Yeah I know it's a bit harsh considering his misfortunes, but with Kersten, Walker and others staking claims, think my reasoning is valid.

He might have a two year contract but if he doesn't do something this year, his boat will have sailed, IMO.

I'm surprised at how important SJ became this year. A lot argued that he shouldn't play up the ground. But his decision making around the contests shaped how we played.

If I was going to pick a 'recent' recruit who was going to break into the 22 permanently then I'd pick Guthrie.

There is just something about him.
I get a hint of calmness under pressure. A vibe that he'd prefer to be the one taking the responsibility at a crucial moment rather than giving it to someone else.

I reckon he and Duncan will be the core of our class factor in 5 years.

I had Jordan Schroder as my Smokey this year vc and will stick with him next year,he came to the club with an AFL body 182cm and 85kgs and had a reasonable 2011 VFL season by the limited report on the Cats web site.
