Hindsight has nothing to do with it, there was enough noise that the ruck rules were going to change.Yep.
We have the luxury of hindsight, now. McAndrew has certainly taken the next step, which we weren't certain about.
The club has clearly seen the ruck as the least important position to spend draft picks and trade capital on. Ruck succession plan has been a back-burner thing.
With Thilly and recently Turray both having the ability to relief ruck. And McAndrew doing well against Xerri we seem to have a succession plan.
I have the feeling we all hope ROB is break glass option. I hope we skimped on $$ for that last year though.
I will always wonder if we would have caved into a 3 year deal if we knew the ruck rules were about to change.
Maybe we are in a position to look at a McAndrew understudy in case of injury or illness?
As for the club seeing the ruck as the least important position is not an excuse to give ROB 3 years, it’s the stupid list position that made it a necessity to give ROB 3 years, we felt we had no choice, McAndrew hadn’t played a game for us yet.
We are just lucky Strachan got injured and McAndrew was overlooked by every club and was lining up to play for Norwood.
