I feel like because ROB is shit, people think we're moving on someone on peanuts for someone on an overinflated contract.

ROB is a club champion, a leader, has a huge workload as first ruck that would be considered when they drew up his contract. ROB would not be on small money.

There might not be a huge difference in these two contracts.

Draper as a player does not excite me though.
ROB is on less than $600k, according to the Herald Sun contract list

If only we had a young developing ruck on our list ready to take the reigns now, reckon it would be a better option than paying a ruck coming off an Achilles big money
I still can't fathom why we've so willfuilly neglected this exact conecpt (ie of recruiting and developing an up and coming ruck). The only possible thing that might explain and justify it is if we've got an iron clad understanding / agreement in place with one of those young SA rucks that they will come home (and to the Crows) in the next year or 2.

Twomey reporting Brisbane now in the Sam Draper hunt big time with McInerney having ongoing back issues and 31 next year, Darcy Fort 32 next year and Henry Smith now also having ongoing back and foot issues apparently.

Draper ain't coming cheap salary wise as someone suggested the other day.
Sounds more like Manager panic

''Quick Adelaide have said no - hmm Brisbane yeah Brisbane - ahem my client has had a mega offer from Brisbane''

I think Twomey is better informed than that personally on things like this re players.

If Adelaide have said No that makes our ruck situation precarious given ROB is a free agent and hasn't shown an inclination to re-sign on the 2 year offer we are reported to have on the table.

I think the latter part is wishful thinking given we are chasing Draper.

That maybe so but until it plays out it is a scenario we have all scene time after time

2 sides to this

That we are in the conversation for a ruck who has just ruptured an achilles and we are in this precarious situation says more about our LM decision making than most

Well, the big question is are we going to regularly get "Good ROB"?
He has been good the last two weeks especially.

This version of ROB, that taps well, but then does like... actual stuff around the ground with competence (tackling, handballing, not shanking kicks) I am happy to keep.

Given it is 4 years after an Achilles, if it was goood money you'd take it for sure
My understanding is the offer was on the table prior to the achilles issue and it still stands so it won't be chickenfeed.

If that is the case, he should have signed it the day after the injury.

Morris tied O’Brien’s situation to the outcome of Draper’s.

“And looming large over all of this is Sam Draper, who the Crows think is more likely to stay at Essendon but hasn’t made his mind up — or hasn’t signed yet at the Bombers either with that four-year deal,” he continued.

Maybe we've offered similar money to Essendon, Draper does want to come home, and is waiting to see if we up our offer if we don't get NWM.

Interesting times for Justin Reid if he sticks around. Building a list has its challenges but staying competitive and still bringing in talent is difficult. We don't appear to have academy or top father son prospect's like some clubs do.

The cap gets tighter and you can't keep everyone.
I heard Max's brother is a really good prospect. Is this still the case?

What about Welsh?

Jack Michalanney if that's who you're talking about went undrafted last year and only sighted twice for Norwood reserves early in the season. (foot injury indefinite)
