NWM did a lot of training with JHF last off season, saw them frequently at my local oval along with Keeler and a couple of draft hopefuls.

Would be a bitter pill if NWM wanted to go to Port :-( as he'd be a great pick up worth burning picks on.

That sounds like nonsense, for a start Walker won't be at the club next year and he's had discussions with us already. Why would he even entertain the idea if that was a strict deal breaker for him?

Everyone sees things differently but we don't really know.. There is a myth that everyone likes everyone at AFL clubs. Truth is its no different to any other large workplace. Not everyone on the list would like Tex, just like not everybody would like Dawson for one reason or another.

Having said that I don't think there is any truth to it. Maybe some body close to NWM said it in a throw away line.

It’s also supposedly1 of many reasons, but the only one she is choosing to air knowing it’s the one that will be a talking point (or the one she has been asked to pedal as a favour)

Interesting also was that she said not that he didn’t want to play with Tex but he has clarified if Nicks was the coach at the time and so doesn’t want to come here because yes he was. Like she said Nicks was publicly gutted at the time but I guess the aspersion is if he allowed Tex to continue in his team he doesn’t want to play for him.

But even that he’d only recently be asking/considering that sounds like it’s more port putting that in his mind and then leaking that that’s a decision making factor.

is a distant cousin and they aren’t close, pretty sure Wayne confirmed this earlier this year, and another article quoted NWM saying he wasn’t even sure how they were related.

Rankine did pick us but was a mad Crows supporter while NWM has a lot of Port ties. Would be interesting if the situation was flipped for NWM and what he’d do then, likely still choose Port if he left.

Agree that Tex won’t be here, so some might ask why would it matter, but he’s also considered a legend of the club. Some players won’t feel comfortable representing that.

A feral Port fan chucking a banana isn’t comparable to a club champ saying something racist.

I remember watching Tex’s return game against Richmond, think it was 2022. Post game, Rioli, Bolton and another player deliberately avoided shaking Tex’s hand. It was awkward to watch live and surprised it wasn’t picked up on TV. Anyway, think it shows everyone in the indigenous community handles it differently.

We could send Rankine and Milera or any other high level club people to sit down and chat with NWM, but we can’t even convince Bunji to attend Indigenous round, so I don’t like our chances there.

Do I hope it’s another case similar to Sid Draper? Where the media says he doesn’t want to come here and he ends up begging for us to take him? Yes. Does it look likely? No.

I think she has a clear conflict of interest when it comes to Port. Hutchys croc media has a commercial relationship with the Power that we never signed up with, and Hutchy hated that.

Caroline essentially works for Hutchy.

Cos Cardone was her boss for a while, and she really hammered us during the whole camp debacle.
