They got lucky with the fixture during the pandemic and even last year they weren't considered one of the premiership favourite and rightfully got smashed by Sydney in the PF and now we see how shit their list is, they always had holes everywhere except in the midfield. Hinkley overachieved with their list, mind up he also have left it in a worst state then when he took over after trading 1st and 2nd rounders for Temu "missing piece".
We can agree on something then. The list is now stuffed. Can’t deny that.

From listening to Gettable it does sound like the contract that we've proposed is clearly the most significant in terms of $ and years. So far at least.

So I am not at all worried about NWM not having us in the conversation. No-one would be moronic enough to take the top bidder off the table for an incident that happened 4 years ago involving a player who looks ready to retire this year.

Some journo's would certainly be moronic enough to suggest it. But given the years, this is Nasiah's 1 big pay day of maybe 2 in his life. He's not leaving a penny on the table, nor should he.

Just follow the money.

Same stench as the rumour of Sid Draper not wanting to be drafted by the Crows because of the Rachele debacle.

Some Port affiliate got wind of Draper going to the Crows and not Port, so they spread said rumour in a hissyfit.

Now the same affiliate has done it again after hearing that NWM is likely going to the crows (i hope!!!)

I think a professional footballer choosing a club because his friends are there is a pretty weird choice. Especially given how quickly your new teammates become friends very quickly.

Assuming contracts are close, surely the primary consideration should be likelyhood of team success. We’ve gone through our rebuild and are comfortably in the 8, Port are starting theirs.

It's not that weird. Most young people are on the lookout for a good, happy workplace. Being with your mates is one huge component of that.

Of course what would reduce his happiness is a few years not winning at Port but he's probably not thinking too much about that

You have to remember that Twomey said on Gettable that both Dawson and Cumming would go to Port - so outside of Drafts, not sure his mail is always true.

Going to work, earning a wage to make some else money vs playing a sport to win a premiership is a big difference.

I don't think so. In both situations the priority is happiness

Some players are the elite competitive types that move somewhere they will win because winning makes them happy. But there are plenty that just want to enjoy playing football with friends/family or in front of crowds or whatever.

I mean for example there is no way Dawson or Rankine prioritised winning when they chose us

In some ways it's his real big pay day. I think players lose alot of negotiation power when they are in their home state.

NWM rang tex supposedly (I guess he could lie to him)

could have lied to him , but if Nasiah felt so strongly about what happened, why would he feel the need to clear the air with Tex?

Possibilities

1 - it’s true, but NWMs management knows it is better to have another bidder in the contest

2 - it’s true, but NWM did not tell his management how he is actually thinking (both 1 and 2 can be true)

3 - it’s not true, and Port lobbed this to try and squeeze us out of the bidding war. Unlikely, too risky.

4 - it’s not true, and St Kilda lobbed this to try and squeeze us out of the bidding war. Unlikely, too risky.

5 - (wild conspiracy) it’s not true and some other club or management group lobbed this try to erode trust between NWM and his management and/or Port/Crows, with the ultimate goal being to peel NWM away from his current plans and/or mgt

6. It is not true, and someone got their wires crossed

7. It is true, all involved know it is true, and leaked against the wishes of NWM and his mgt

8. It is true, NWM feels strongly about it, and allowed it to be leaked behind his mgt’s back.

It's true he mentioned it to a mate, but it was just beer talk and not something he actually gives a shit about when push comes to shove.

I agree. He's going to want to play with a group that he knows he likes and will enjoy playing with. I can't imagine success features that much in his thinking - I'm sure he feels he will help Port extend their highly successful last decade and maybe finally help them get across the line.

I never said he was coming to us. Only that we as rumoured top bidder are 100% in the conversation. Ruling us out with that information in the public space means St Kilda's offer wouldn't have to match ours, they only have to match Ports.

So as you can see. Having us not in the equation is leaving money on the table. Potentially lots of money! Which is why only a moron would do that.

Yeah, he'll likely get another contract. But this is the one that sets him up for life.

Regardless of where he ends up, having a a 3 team auction is the best way to push that number to its max.

LOL, well it must be true.

I never said he was a Port troll (whether that's true or not). I said he was an easy block.
Can’t remember anything too bad from him? Has given good intel at times as well.

Cos Cardone was her boss for a while, and she really hammered us during the whole camp debacle.

That was after Fagan had brought her into the tent after she described us as a rabble for getting rid of Trigg. Not needing the scratching of backs deal any more coincided with the the shit show and she revelled in it.

Good luck to NWM but wasn't assed in the first place, I don't believe he's a 1 million dollar player and even less so now.

We need to ensure we have the capital for Curtin moving forward as he has the ability to be top 3 in the comp.
