Ok, this isn't a troll, I was just wondering on M.Lloyd's progress. I have a friend who had exactly the same injury as Lloyd, and even after surgery and countless visits to the physio he is still having massive problems with his hamstring. The physio he goes to has said that the last guy he saw who had this done could not walk down (or up - cant remember) hills anymore. The same physio said he didn't think Lloyd would never be as good as he once was, if anything at all. Has anyone seen or heard anything regarding Lloyd, as my friend is concerned...

he said his hamstring has never felt better, hes sprinting on the track and is doing full training, could of came back and played in rd 21 but sheedy wouldnt let him.

Your friend didn't have the same surgeon as Lloydy....best that money could by I'd suspect.

it was from the actual joint at the bone where the hammy attaches it self, not the hammy muscle it self wasn't it?

He tore the tendon, which joins the hamstring to the bone. He didn't actually tear the hamstring at all and chance of re-injury is less than the injury actually occurring int he first place. It heals stronger.

The major concern was a loss of mobility/flexability. Anyone that has seen him tearing up the track would know, that's no longer an issue.

Maybe your mate was just bragging a bit and wanted Lloydy's injury to be just like his....maybe he hates Lloydy for some reason?

What ever the reason, its clear that your mate's hammy problems are not the same as The Super Star:D

I have seen his training for the last 6 months and he is 100% Moving exactly the same as he was before the injury.

Okay, so now that you have admitted that you have no idea what you are talking about, you can rest safe in the knowledge that Matthew Lloyd is flying.

I know u have said this over and over on BF, but what i want to know is who was it that said it heals stronger??? The club Doc?? Any link??

**(not trying to be a smarta**, i've have friends that deal with this sort of thing for a living and are very interested in such a statement, thats all)**

It was Peter Larkins who described it on the Footy Show.
It was him that said the danger with the injury is that he could lose mobility in the area as a result of the tendon healing stronger than it was in its original state.

Lloyd said in the HS last month that it was feeling stronger, whether he means stronger than 12 months ago or stronger than a month ago, I don't know.

I'm no medical expert, I'm just going on what I've heard and been told.

I can tell you what I've seen and that is that Matthew Lloyd is tearing up the track and has shown no signs of being effected by the injury.

Thanks for the info.
They say that on avg u get back 90% of mobility but being an elite athlete he's prob up at the 95-100% mark.

Not good news about him tearing up the track though :p
Bring on NAB Cup.

Thanks again, will look into it/forward it on.

Cheers.

Don't know about mobility, but he did break his personal best for the 20m sprint. So his speed off the mark shouldn't be an issue.

From all reports he is better than he was in 2004-2005.

Did anyone see the picture in the Herald sun a few months ago, Lloyd looked huge! I seriously think he can kick 100+ goals this year if he plays as good as he feels.

Ahem. Not that I was just after an excuse to dig those photos out... ;)

It sounds like he's well and truly over his hamstring, is fit as a fiddle and raring to go. After being forced to watch from the sidelines he's going to be even more determined than ever to make the most of his footy career, add in the birth of a baby daughter to help "ground" him (footballers always seem to say that having children actually helps their footy) and you've got the makings of a brilliant season. :thumbsu:

Yeah is hamstring is better than ever after it being ripped of the bone??? Lloyd won't be the same player although he was well past his best anyway.

pffft Essendon supporters
