When looking back over the decades and generations of society (western or otherwise), there's a lot in the past that is now considered reprehensible, socially and ethically, and even just in terms of laughing at what things humanity used to believe in, what they wore, attitudes like smoking is cool, etc etc.

Given all that.....what is there in TODAY's society that will be found to be morally reprehensible, and/or what will be looked at with laughter, say 50 years from now?

I'd like to think people will grow out of having imaginary friends and basing life decisions on interpretations of 2,000 year old texts but I think that is wildly optimistic at this point.

Agree that gay marriage will eventually end up in the 'Really? We cared so much about that?' basket.

I have long held the belief that humanity will eventually abandon religion, even outlaw it. I think we're closer to that than further away from it.

In all honestly I hope 1 day Humanity can laugh off all the hatred amongst each other

#Worldpeace :D

- LGBT Discrimination: The (Western) world has become a lot more tolerant of the LGBT community over time, I expect/hope it will continue.

- Our current technology/fashions: We do the same looking back, it is natural that future generations will do the same.

- Climate sceptics: ridiculed

World peace is impossible. By law of nature, life itself is a never-ending process of dark/light working in unison to maintain a functionality of mechanism.

Suits. I'm thinking more 200+ years here, but in 200+ years if we are still forcing ourselves to wear these things to 'look professional' then weve failed as a race

Smoking is an obvious one

I think food overall. People will look back and say "did people really eat all that stuff?" (thinking the toxic/bad stuff in food we really dont understand or ignore at the moment)

People will be shocked weed was illegal, itll be a bit like us and the prohibition now (shocked maybe not the right word, but you know what I mean)

Single car ownership

Some interesting ones there.

I'm holding my breath that BIGFOOTY members can come up with some truly visionary ones.

An interesting one I cant provide a link for, I've only seen a tweet, but it said its estimated that in 1000 years the English laungage as we know it will be defunct and evolved in to something we wouldnt understand

Now that's interesting to me....because for the last few months, secretly (until now), i've been working on a new phonetic English alphabet.

Adding more vowels for all the different vowel sounds, and replacing some of the sounds made by consonants with a single new character.

This wouldn't surprise me.

English has evolved a hell of a lot in the 400 odd years since the days of Shakespeare. No reason why it won't continue to evolve going forward.

It would be my luck to get a time machine and travel 1000 years in to the future and not be able to talk to anyone or read anything

I think the word 'hi' will go the way of the comical 'howdy,' overtaken by the likes of 'hey.' Even know it feels closed and unnatural to say.

I hardly hear 'hi' now, personally i greet a person with their name/nickname or 'how are you?/hows it going?' if its a stranger.

Can't see it. Nearly all of the world is a long way from that point.

I think cash will be gone relatively soon. I think it's Sweden that already has plans in place for a cashless society.

There is going to be a mass adjustment to the population of humans on this planet. Alot of people addicted to chemical in food and beverages. They will b zombies, they will eat others, themselves when the system fails. The only way to avoid a massive catastrophic failure of the system is to slowly go into war again. That needs a good economic depression to sought the men from the boys, fill armies with soldiers and make them angry , so they fight.

People will wonder why we used to harass and lock up pedos, just as we now wonder why we used to harass and lock up gays.
