Carlton
After Friday night’s game I was probably more depressed and frustrated than usual.
I thought we were on the way back, and then we put up a showing like that.

I have been a Carlton supporter for well over 30 years and in that time I’ve seen so many good times. A few bad times and even a few sad times.
The last four or five seasons have without doubt been the worst of all. They have been painful, embarrassing, frustrating and even humbling.

But as painful as these last few years have been they cannot and will not ever wipe out the sheer pleasure and joy I have received from supporting the Blues all these years.
In that time I’ve seen 7 premierships. I’ve watched champions like Bosustow, Silvagni, Doull, Bradley, Kenny Hunter, Jezza and my all time favourite Wayne Johnston, oh how I loved the Dominator!
I’ve laughed and cheered through so many finals.
I’ve cried over Peter Motley.
I’ve shouted myself hoarse and almost fainted from stress over the 99 prelim.
I’ve been the stereo-typical arrogant Carlton supporter.

Now the boot is on the other foot and it’s been very hard to take. A pain almost too hard to bear.
At times I get so bloody angry and frustrated and I take my frustration out on the club. Then after a short cooling off period I reflect on the good times and all those great memories and then I know that whatever crap is being dished out at the moment it can never, ever outweigh the pleasures I have had over the years. Just the sheer joy of what “Loving the Blues” is all about
So how about we all put our frustrations behind us for a while and remember why we love the Carlton Football Club so much.

Well written Debs. Sounds you like you have seen most of the good times that I have enjoyed and that is why I am happy to keep buying a membership no matter where they are at, because I feel I need to repay the club for those wonderful years.

I also was a huge Dominator fan, he won me over with his 7 goals at Victoria Park in Round 1, 1980. I still have my AVCO guernsey with his # 7 on the back and have a photo hanging proudly on my wall taken at the Gabba a few years ago of Johnno, My Son & Myself. What a legend and what a shame to see him running for the Tigers.

Well put Debs.. exactly how I feel.

The last 4 years have been horrific.. was bad enough was what happening on the field, we also have see some real ugly stuff happening off it.

I too was the typical arrogant Blues supporter, and loved it. Can't wait for us to be back where we belong

Well written. Puts my feeling in perspective. I logged on this morning with the full intention of saying "I've always remained optimistic about our comeback but I've had enough of these permormances" that sort of thing. I'm still extremely frustrated about the last four weeks, and the four years before that, but being reminded that we still go for the best club around can only be a good thing. The good times will return.

Hopefully this week ;)

Ah the memories we have had. I remember once having a little banter with a Collingwood supporter and telling them that in my lifetime (born in 1970) I have seen 70, 72, 79, 81, 82, 87 & 95 premierships, they had only seen 1 (1990).

The Dominator was also my favourite. I had the number 7 on my back, and I still remember Johno's response to Dennis Banks knocking out Rhys Jones in the mid 80's..... Who else remembers the Dominator kicking goal after goal and letting Banks know about it?
