I thought Claye would come on but injuries were cruel to him. He had the talent though.
Those score increasing rule changes really worked
There isn't a problem. Its nothing more than the cycle and evolution of the game. There shouldnt have been these changes. Why? Because coaches will always, always find ways to get what they want. Coaches want to stop the opposition scoring, they want control. That's much easier to do than score because you dont need the ball to defend.Personally don’t see what the problems is
Yeh the rest of you suckSorry guys. We tried to pull it back up to the average but couldn’t quite get there.
Those score increasing rule changes really worked
The game is now played on the wings . This has all occurred because there was a lack of evidence that this rule change would work , but they panicked due to lower ratings and did it anyway . All the afl needs to do to increase scoring is limit interchanges . It’s that simple .
Congestion is caused by umpires putting the whistle away. Pay the frees that are there and congestion disappears
More scoring means more ads means more $$$ for broadcasters. These changes are driven by ch 7.
Perhaps the TV model is broken and the FTA channels need to work out how to get more money for fewer ads or the AFL have to accept less money for their product.
It's unacceptable that we are changing the game for these reasons.
They aren't meaningless when they affect draft positionThe AFL wanted the evidence, but people complained when the AFL suggested changing the rules for a few meaningless games towards the end of the season.
They aren't meaningless when they affect draft position
Yes it was. They were still mostly meaningless. The vague possibility of it affecting a draft position a tiny amount was not enough of a reason not to trial the new rules.
Need to bring in the rule Clarkson suggested last year, where if a player handballs to a teammate that teammate immediately loses all right to prior opportunity. That one rule won't make the game look much different but it will stop players doing 5 or 6 little handballs in packs and being happy with getting another ball up.
