If luke leaves the saints and enter the national draft in hope can get picked up by collingwood at pick 30. Would you be happy if we used pick 12 to pick him up? He would be the best available and add leadership and hardness to our midfield. The biggest bonus would be we p!ss collingwood off

no its not time for an updated thread! we don't need luke ball and if pick 12 gets used on a midfielder i'll lose my mind.

I am happy to take him with any other pick in any other draft other than Pick 12 in the ND. It is a shallow draft pool as it is, so we are best off taking our chances with Pick 12 on a 50/50 kid for our future and use a later pick on Ball if he was available because he is an undoubted talent.

close friend to bally, and id love him at our club, but we just got McLean for pick 11, who is at a similar level than bally TBH. If bally said he wanted to go pre the agreement with McLean, i dare say that pick 11 would have been used on him instead.

Probably still wold have rathered Mclean to be honest. I think Ball is a good player, but that's it. Mclean while not being a superstar, definately has more potential.

I'd be happy to see us use our second pick or one after that, but not pick 12. We need to start drafting KP players.

Spot on.

The biggest bonus is we annoy the Pies......possibly the only bonus given we already have McLean.

Hardly what long term recruiting decisions should be based on.

If he does go into the PSD, I'd be amazed if he's still there at our pick. I doubt he'd be that keen on joining the Blues because we have a powerful midfield, and he might end up in the same situation as he was in at the Saints. Pies would have been perfect, because they have an ordinary midfield, but they fluffed a straightforward trade somehow, yet again. He'll probably stay. Imagine being picked up by the Dees or Bleakmond in the PSD! Scary. :)

Ball is an excellent player and will be a great addition to whichever team he goes too.

The people saying we don't need any more midfielders don't know much about footy, and why do we need more Key Position Players when we've just picked up Henderson, are possibly turning Kreuzer into one and have Austin coming through?

Pick 12 however will be used on the best available potential 10-12 year player, Ball is most likely only a 5 year player.

yeah i see what you mean, i wasn't having a go at him btw, he just could be so much more of an asset somewhere else thats really lacking in a midfield.. i wouldn't be disappointed if he come to play for us, just not for pick 12.

and Korn, we need another KPP because Hendo isn't Fev. never hurts to have developing KPP's...

Get him!
why do we need another KPP when we have Henderson?

Have you had a look at our list lately, we have a abundance of mid-field players, now Carlton have lost Fev they need to start building towards challenging 2011/2012, by addressing list weaknesses, clearly Luke Ball at pick 12 would not even be considered, e.g two or three young tall developing forwards.

Well Sin, I am one of those people who dont think we need more mid fielders and I also think I am quite knowledgable when it comes to football. I just think that with the depth of talent we have in our mid field at the moment, and the fact we have no recognised goal kicker now that we have lost you know who, we should be consentrating on building up our goal kicking options. Hopefully we will be able to get a promising young KPF at pick 12.

I say no but gee you could do worse than a 25 year old All Australian who had 24 possessions in the GF in 50% game time

There's a reason why he rarely plays much more than 50% gametime.

Though I do agree to an extent, I'd rather we take our chances in the draft. Injuries have limited his ability.

Anf if there is no promising young KPF at pick 12? Take a crap one? This is why you always pick the best available.

Our midfield has lost it's best kicker in Stevens. Scotland and Houlihan haven't got all that long left either. Glad to have McLean on board but it's no certainty that his body is always going to hold up, ditto Hadley. Our "depth of talent" may not be as good as we think. There are plenty of goal kicking options, this will become apparent now that the ball won't be being kicked to Fev 70% of the time and being picked off by opposition players who can predict this.

Mac25 is working on the theory that if he says KPP enough times it will come true ;)
