the funny thing is that ball is actually very quick... not sure if he'll ever be as quick as he was in school days, but he did win the draft camp 20m sprint back in 2001.. and probably would run the 100m in low 11's.. 11.2-3 electronic

his injury is such a shame...

better by a country mile did u see 05 season or the game last year were he got 31 possesions 3 goals and 8 tackles and he was supposedly still injuried yeah i would say he is better

Speaking of Luke Hodge, we have a player that has an uncanny resemblance in playing style as the star Hawk in David Armitage. It took a few years for Luke to mature into the player he is now, Armitage may be more advanced than he was at the same age.

Yeah, I know - he has to do a whole lot more to truly warrant the comparison, but I do like the look of the lad and he's from Mackay where I recently resided.

Please lets give this kid a break. He is still a teenager. He's got to at least enjoy his footy without screaming premiership drought fans (yes I'm one of them) expecting the world from him.

He has played some bloody good games but being young and with heaps of expectations that can turn around really quick!

Lets put some expectations on Montagna, Fiora, S Fisher and co before we look to this kid to be our spring board.

And FYI the young draftees do read these boards!

I agree, really liking Armitage, but lets let him just develop abit more ... & these are the players I want to see improve further ... especially some consistency from Fiora!!

And sorry before everyone smashes me for the above post I meant L Fisher.

Fairly big mistake that one.

Thanks for the back up tho 35Harvs :)

oops that is what I read it as too (L Fisher) ... think S Fisher is going alright:thumbsu:

And what of Luke Ball? I don't think people understand how important a fit Ball is to our team (from the lack of comments).

I understand Squizz. The only reason I felt we knocked off the Hawks last year was his sensational effort. His determination is uplifting and I have no doubt he'll play a great role this year. He's in my dreamteam!!!!!!!!!!

Is he apparently back to full health? That would be terrific for the AFL. Fantastic player, i admire his courage.

I don't think he will be back to 2004/5 form in round 1, as it gets to say round 8, thats when I think, we will start seeing the real Luke again.

He looked ok last night playing for Casey.
Was movinga lot lot freer than he did last year.

Judd said he would be at his best mid-season.

Ball with the same operation will most likely be likewise.

I am hoping that Bally is our best "new" recruit in 2008 for with his injury last year he was not really there asa effective contributor.

The way I look at it, Ball, Goddard and Gardi are all like recruits.

We are still 2-3 depth players away imo, but with these guys back and some luck with the rest (asking too much?) we can threaten.

Funnily enough Kildonan I think Ball plays like Hodge nowdays especially since his groin problems. Lost his weapons of elusiveness and long kicking, so boned up on his hard tackling defensive skills. Now he is much fitter and the groins are much better, his tackling is still just as strong and hard, while his other play is coming back. Very Hodge like.

No doubt Armitage plays like Hodge as well, and is a prospect going forward.

do you think i should get rid of luke in my dream team? i got him as a big darkhorse because i belived he was over his injuries and was going to rip it up, but he had 2 possessions in the second half against sydney. I could trade him for dal santo without losing any money now, but dal santo is a more mainstream pick. If anyone could be bothered to give me some advice that would be great... regarding luke ball his fitness his time on ground etc. i went to the trouble of finding a thread that had already been started and not starting a new one like some noobs :).
