Yes, he was. Pick 10 and an end-of-first-round compensation pick for Luke Brown and Brad Crouch, effectively. Considering Brad is probably worth picks 10 and 20 (or so) by himself, it's a nice deal for us.

I almost never notice him. Doesn't get much of the ball, and neither does his opponent. Whenever he does he seems to do something good with it. I like him in the "lockdown" small defender role while Jaensch or Laird plays in the more creative small defender role.

The compensation pick was actually tied to our finishing position. In effect, because we finished where we did, it ended up being pretty close to the end of the first round, but if we'd finished bottom, it would have been pick 2.

That's how I remember it too, but Wikipedia seems to think it was an end of first round pick. I assume Wiki is just misinformed?

Edit: No, my mistake. I just misread it.

According to Sam Jacobs, Brown did well with a sledge on the weekend. Apparently before the first bounce as the players were walking to their positions the Carlton forward he went to tried for the old "who are you?" sledge, to which Brown laughed and said "That's why you blokes are going so badly, you don't even know who you are playing against"

Superb. To be fair nobody knows who Brown is. All anyone knows is that every single small forward in the league has a bad game against the Crows. Menzel the latest victim.

We were discussing on the podcast before Browny joined us for the interview that Viska's old nickname of Death might be appropriate for Browny. :D

That's better than Jesse Hogan's sledge, but you can bet Wayne Carey won't write an article about it. He'll just keep quietly towelling up the oppositions small forwards.

I have no doubt that many of the quality small forwards around the league know exactly who Brown is

Brown is like a black hole; invisible, you just don't see him, and if you get too close no one will ever see you again either.

He is a good lock down defender, but would love to see him get more of the ball and add some form of rebound. He was alot more offensive as a jr.
I agree. I feel like this is probably still to come for him. I reckon Phil would be working on this as a plan for him. Great to have him really developing his lock down skills first though.

The luke brown sledge quoted earlier on this page sucks and doesn't come close to the quality of the Hogan call as others have suggested.

Why is it even a competition?
By the looks of things people are frothing over the sledge here. I'm just trying to whip my crows goggles off for a tick and point out that his sledge was shithouse and could've been a lot better.

Nah wasn't "shithouse", was just a sledge.

Lighten up little pony :)
