Dogs paying the price for the Tom Boyd deal.

Because a player who hasn’t played good football for two years wants out for a longer contract?

Maybe the dogs didn’t value dahlhaus as much as he valued himself?

Also you do realise Dahlhaus extended his contract after Boyd signed on right?

Tom Boyd the 'gift' that keeps on giving

It is looking like a very costly error in judgement to sign Boyd. It will go down as one of the most stupid football decisions no doubt. A real head scratcher. Boyd isn't even playing up to his sub par NEAFL form these days. But on Dahlhaus, he is a shadow of the player he once was. Not sure the Bullies lose too much sleep over his departure.

The bulldogs should make t-shirts. “We signed Tom Boyd and all we got was this dominant grand final performance”

On the back it can read: every player who leaves is because of Boyd. All those who sign on must be ignored.

Or words to that effect

Exactly, posters stupidity with comments on Boyd's contract is hilarious.

The Boyd deal has zero effect here. His deal was pretty front loaded, so not holding us back a million a year, will be less and less over time, we are already paying under the cap, have a few senior players retiring or moving creating more space, all our youngsters are signed on. Plenty of space to have signed Wallis, Libba, Dahl, Bont and make a play for a big fish. The issue was Dahlhaus wanting a longer and slightly better paying deal than what we were willing giving his downput on form the past two years. Couldnt reach an agreement so he decided a fresh start and better deal was the way to go. No hard feelings either, because it is a career after all. We are yet to lose anyone because of the Boyd deal and doubt we will as the list is largely secured to the point his contract expires.

Boyd won us a flag, something you guys haven't done since before colour TV. I'm not complaining.

So on one hand people say Dahlhaus would be a useless pick up for their club, but others say it is terrrible list management to allow him to leave.

I think the answer is somewhere in the middle

Boyd was instrumental in their premiership, even if he doesn't play again he's been worth every penny

He won them a flag. The decision was justified.

If the lesser McCartin eventually comes good and wins a flag for the saints, supporters would also overlook the massive brain fart of the recruiting department in picking him up at number one in the draft.

Joel Hamling left for more money.

The Boyd effect has also meant that you haven't been able to lure anyone decent since.

Hamling was honestly shit for us outside the finals series. Clubs need to evaluate a players value to the club, and I guess Freo had a higher figure in mind

Third after Saints moving to Seaford and picking Billings ahead of Bont

Zero effect is a stretch - wouldn’t every dog player look at Tom and think this club is playing this bloke a million a year. It would have to have an effect.

Your team is playing their first final in 12 years in two days time and you are here posting rubbish about things you have no idea about. Pathetic.

First flag in 62 years tells me that even if he never plays another game, he was worth it.
