Great players can impose themselves on the game and can single handedly change the course of the match

On Saturday night Darcy was magnificent.

And didn't Minson step up when given the responsibility in the middle. Last week I had a few misgivings, but he was fantastic. He ran out of puff a little, but a couple more games under his belt, and Big Willie could be just what we have been waiting for

Its amazing what the Dogs can do with a key big man up forward. It was Darcy this week but it was so important that finally players had the confidence to kick the ball to a tall and big target and look at the result.

I like many have been yelling to see a tall forward line set up. I would love to see a player like Walsh tried up there with Grant and Darc. Please continue to play big blokes up forward.

yes its amazing what a difference having some decent contests up forward can do. even if he didnt mark it, the ball didnt just come bouncing back out - we had a focus for crumbers and so on.

Completely changed our style of play.Instead of running the ball forward with handpasse and trying draw men until we are within range we were able to relieve pressure with a long kick.How good was it to see Guido getting the ball and just blasting it long instead of grubbing a kick?Also means we can have players back building a bit of a wall and stopping the ball from clearing which allows us to hold momentum.

Its ok to say throw a big big there but the fact is they have to be good. Walsh is not at that level yet. Darcy is the only player in our team who could potentially kick 100. Gehrig did it!!! Not just that, he is our best mark and unlike others I believe he knows when to lead up. Only player who can turn games in our side. For the benefit of the side I would play him there every game. Don't care who rucks, combo of Will and Street.

I am a bit the same.To me the forward line and giving out side a decent structure that allows us to move the footy with some sort of fluency is of a higher priority than having Darcy in the centre square.You dont need a good ruckmen to do well out of the centre square and teams have been proving this over the last couple of seasons.IMO quite often when Darcy plays in the guts he and his opponent nullify each other and we dont get a great deal of advantage out of it.Saturday night was the longest and most direct I have seen Danile Giansiracusa kick the ball and Darcy was the reason.That alone improved the value Guidos touches.

When you think about it the only way we are going to step into the top 4 over the next few years is with a big forward presence like Darcy.This being a development year everything we do should be geared towards our next succesful era and to me that means Minson and whoever else (Skipper,Street,Bandy) should be spending massive amounts of time in the ruck.
