Luke Hodge

Disagree with that Judd was a bit over hyped at WC imo, people would get caught up in his burst from the pack and not see the kick miss the target or fall short or go over the forwards head.

Judd is a great player but is also a tad elevated due to his style.

Spot on. I've been saying this since day 1, and it has frustrated me that it never seemed to matter how many times Judd's disposal went nowhere. As you say, very good player, but elevated beyond his true capacity.

Any highlight package you saw with Judd was winning the footy and then dashing off .. and that's where it ends.

Hodge is in career best form.
This year he is predominantly a midfielder, though he still spends more time out of the centre than Judd/Ablett.

Don't know about Ablett there, he's spending a fair chunk of gametime in the forwardline this year.

There's very little he can't do.

Very true, but one of those would be deal with a decent tag, imo.

According to Hird, Darcy and Sheahan to name a few and many others. It's been said dozens of times but then again I like to watch all matches and watch all media coverage on AFL.

Talking about strange, your last comment was perplexing at best.

Pathetic little attempt at moral authority right there.

You want to play the mouth off game, please produce a source rating Hodge ahead of Judd.

In fact you'll need A LOT of sources to support your claim. Because in the years since their careers began Judd has been consistently rated the superior player over Hodge (and everyone else for most of it).

A few weeks of career best form as one of the better players running around goes nowhere near carrying Hodge to the level you wish for.

He's into $6 with Betfair. Gazza $3.90, Judd $11.50.

Not sure how he'll have polled, but my assessment is something like this:

vs Melbourne - 3 votes (clearly best afield)
vs Geelong - 0 votes (tagged most of it)
vs Bulldogs - 0/1 votes (Was 2nd best afield, but Hawks lost and Rioli starred)
vs Collingwood - 1/2 votes (best afield, but hard to score votes in a belting)
vs North - 1 vote (along with Buddy, kept a struggling side sans rucks in the game)
vs Essendon - 0 votes (got plenty of it, but caught three times holding the pill)
vs West Coast - 0 votes (a few players ahead of him in that game)
vs Richmond - 2/3 votes (massive in a tight win)
vs Carlton - 3 votes (stepped up when the game was there to win)
vs Syd - 0 votes (tagged out of first half, not enough done in second half to poll)
vs Port - 3 votes (massive all day, game saving contested marks in last quarter)
vs Adelaide - 3 votes (no explanation needed)

This would put him on somewhere between 15/20 votes so far. That's assuming the umpires are seeing the game rationally. I think it's fair to say, if he repeats this form consistently for the next ten rounds, he'll be the unbackable favourite.

Rationally, and in agreeance with Hawthorn supporters, are not the same thing. According to you, Hodge is on track to smash the record for Brownlow votes.

Clearly so, when Ablett's a clear favourite at the half way mark, and yet you manage to conclude that a repitition of that form in the latter part of the season makes Hodge an unbackable favourite? ?????? ?????????

Whilst I don't dispute the fact that I see things through rose coloured glasses, your anti-Hawthorn bias is far more palpable, not to mention seriously lacking comprehension.

Ablett is not the favourite because his current form merits it. He's favourite because he's had three sensational seasons previous, and won it last year. He polls well, and is expected to pull something out again this year. If you look at the odds, Ablett hasn't changed a whole lot (has lengthened slightly), whilst Hodge has shortened massively. Because his form is head and shoulders above any other player in the comp.

As for smashing the votes record, I'm not suggesting he's going to repeat his form so far. Only saying that, if you judge his performances so far, he should have at least 15 votes in the bag.

Once again, your bitter resentment (I have no reason why) is blindingly obvious in every post you make. Get back to the Bay where you belong.

Up yours, and the horse you rode in on as well.

You are making claims which would rate Hodge as not only by far the best player in football (not widely held outside Hawthorn, in fact probably not held at all outside Hawthorn), but imply in your "argument" that he is the most dominant player in the history of the game.

Calling that BS is not bitter resentment.

Bollocks. I simply pointed out that he has performed better than any player in the league this season. He's done miles better than Gazza, he's done better than Judd, he's even had more impact than Goddard. Are you disputing he's the form player of the competition?

The sad thing is he won't get a lot of the votes he deserves because his team was losing at the start of the year.

Your jealousy and bitterness toward Hawthorn permeates every post you make, especially given you attack no other club's posters with such fervour.

You contribute nothing to discussion other than faux controversy.

That is because no other club's posters are, collectively and individually, as worthy of scorn. Even worse than the Clifton Hill crew, and by a fair margin too.

Point proven, I rest my case. Thanks.

Me and a few others, it seems.

But yeah, it'd be much more sensible to accept your rating of number one as indusputable.

Indusputable you say?

I guess you have a point, I mean, any poll led by the likes of Nick "Hasn't played since round 3" Riewoldt, Ryan "MIA since round 6" O'Keefe and Jonathan "Played two BOG games for the season" Brown has to be more credible than the coaches award, not to mention Brownlow predictors.
Not to mention the fact that Gazza's had a handful of dominant games, amongst a bunch of very average efforts.

[I'm not sure if this is evidence that you rate the HS for its journalistic nous, or that you'll stoop to any lengths to win an argument against a Hawks supporter.]

Hodge is leading the Coachs player of the year, The Age player of the year and your "version" of the HS player of the year is wrong. Please pick up a copy of todays Herald Sun.

I don't know why you bother posting in Hawthorn threads, seriously mate. Nobody takes you seriously, particuarly when you tell blatant lies like the one above.

Like I said, read the Herald Sun sport today

Herald Sun Player of the Year says:

1. G Ablett 32
2. Luke Hodge 29

Daylight

You are discredited troll. Shown up for the liar you are

Hodge is leading The Age award and also the Coaches award. 2nd in the HS award. Stop posting in Hawthorn threads AbsFab because you're a troll and a liar

What are you on about. Hodge is second after round 11 and if you bother reading the papers polled highest yesterday and is now leading that award like I said.

Man you're seriously weird

The round is incomplete. The leader hasn't played. You are full of it.

Also what about retracting your lies on the previous page about the Herald Sun player of Year?
