I honestly think Tasmania would be better off if Launceston were the biggest city and capital. More central, less windy, less constrained by mountains. I guess that isn't going to happen. Would have been nice though. I much prefer Launy, even though I'm a big city person generally.

Launceston is a terrible city.

Besides the gorge, there really isn’t much else in Launceston. The nearest port would be Georgetown. Which is at least an hour’s drive. May as well make Devonport the capital.

Isn't it nice that we can all enjoy different things?

Cradle Mountain, fresh produce, wineries, lots of lovely countryside, small towns to make a day trip to, I had an excellent time. Salamanca Markets seemed overrated by comparison. And I prefer Boags to Cascade.

It is nice that we can enjoy different things. The North East does has some nice towns, such as Scotsdale, Derby Pioneer ect.

The South also has its nice towns, such eagle Hawk Neck, New Norfolk, Richmond and Huonville ect.

The North West also has its fair share of towns and spots, such as Stanley, Wynyard and Smithton. Wynyard is especially nice, when it is hosting its tulip festival.

All 3 parts of the state has its fair share of wineries, distilleries and small breweries. Along with local produce. So it’s pretty much a personal preference.

If we are just comparing the 2 cities of Hobart and Launceston, then it’s fairly easy to see why Hobart is the capital and not Launceston.

Go here and let’s get the stadium built.

The people that say the team doesn’t work based in Launceston because Launceston isn’t a place that people want to live are the same people that complain about mainlanders saying no one wants to live in Hobart.

If this happens the stadium could be done for :(

Labor considering making a deal with the greens to guarantee supply.

All election convos in this thread if possible lol

What was the size of the crowd last time the Pies played in Tas?
Oh, that’s right, they’ve never been there.
Moving on, with an election coming, I can see both Lib and Lab getting smashed in the North and North West.
Independents and Greens will rule the roost, and no stadium gets built.
A good response to the AFL’s stupendous arrogance.
Roof indeed!
That’s me finished with political forecasts.
Libs cleaned up in Braddon, yet again.

let's not forget even if Rockliff somehow gets this done - presumably with Labor supporting it through . Still has to get past the legislative council.

Sure, if you drive 60kmph on the open road for the entire journey.

So there goes your credibility on the subject.

And it's George Town, two words, by the way. :)

We've had two elections in a year on this now, it is time for the crossbench to bury the hatchet. If you want to call this a referendum on the stadium then a clear majority of Tasmanians have voted for it. Far from losing confidence in the premier and the Liberal party they've seen an increased vote. The crossbench can maintain their personal position they were elected with, but to continue to be obstructionist to the formation of a pro stadium government at this point is getting ridiculous.

WTF was the point of slicing into this convo to create a separate thread on the election and then immediately closing it?

The two things are inseperable anyway.

Truetiger

I explained that the election was only for the day. If you want it reopened, just ask.

Everything to do with Tasmanian politics is ridiculous. ;)

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the current negotiations between Lib and Labor with Greens & Independents in regards to the stadium.
Those internal conversations behind the scenes and in the hallways of Parliament House would be very interesting.

I think they would be interminably dispiriting, like watching paint dry.
