Glad to see we've signed the old Caff. Good hands, strong body and the perfect blend between the Twin Towers and the smaller forwards. I reckon we missed his work pretty badly this year. Hope he has a great 2012.

*Edit* Plus, if we lost him, we would have been decaffeinated, which can't be good for anybody.

But now we are Dickless instead.

Pull his finger out? He had a groin injury through the 2010/2011 preseason then broke his foot during the year amongst other things...

You don't get the impression that he wasn't exaclty doing everything humanly possibly to get his body right during the year?

The reason his year was screwed was because he was so desperate to play and consolidate his spot in the 22 that he ignored some pain in his foot and played with the discomfort until it turned into a full blown fracture.

All this crap about Caff partying too much is exactly that. There is plenty of blokes on the list that are out and about having a crack more than him!

A one year deal seems about right to me. He was drafted in 06 so has now spent 5 season's on the list and in that time has only managed 30 games, despite being injury free for the vast majority of it (outside of 2011 of course). To put it in perspective Brad Dick played 27 matches in the same time frame despite suffering 2 shoulder reconstructions and 2 knee reconstructions.....

He's a role player and nothing more so I agree 100% with the way the club handled negotiation's with him. I would however like to wish him the best of luck for 2012 and beyond :thumbsu:

I saw him at a 'full moon' party in Thailand last week.:D:D:D

Is that right is it? Might be a little off the mark considering he hasn't left Melbourne all off season.

Brent hasn't rejoined the main group and won't until the rest go back but has been doing many private sessions at the Westpac and is getting himself in a good position to tackle the pre-season ahead...

This is exactly what we want to hear thanks for the info mate.:thumbsu:

My post was not serious - hence the :D:D:D.
It was a juxtaposition of the relief/good news for Collingwood supporters at his re-signing (after weeks of doubt re his future at the club) with a friendly reference to his party boy rep.
I am sure that Caff is in for a huge 2012. He has my support.
Tks your info - great to hear.

Good news on retaining MaCaffer. Was a big loss to the forward line this year. Still pissed we lost Leon for nothing though but I was never a fan of playing too many fancy players. With Didak, Krakouer, Davis and Fasolo all in the bracket it was good to retain a hard nut.

Happy that we signed Caff and agree with Scodog's excellent post earlier, he is a role player and needs to step up now, he 's not a promising youngster anymore, it's time to deliver.

Perfect arrangement the one year deal - plus making him sweat to even get that.

Happy we kept the Caff.

Although Macarthy is gone. I was having a coffee, with a freind in a Cafe at North Melboune the other day and saw macarthy having a good chat and seemed like an interwiew was taking place by one of North's recruiting team.

Looks like macarthy will be heading to North Melbourne in the dec draft ,maybe Brad Scott rates him.

Good luck to him.

I had read Richmond and Port Adelaide are both interested also.

No, I didn't get that impression. He had groin injuries over the preseason, got himself up for the last couple of practice sessions, was sub/emergency in the first couple of games, played a game or two in the VFL and broke his foot. Recovered, went to Arizona, trained for the rest of the season and that was his year. As someone else said he had back problems as well.

Torn pelvis end of 2010 that limited preseason
Fractured foot early this year
Then fractured back just after Arizona

According to the new article on the website, I can imagine those three things severely limiting him
