Unbelievably sad he was actually in prison. I know he deserved it and all but what a fall from grace
Many years ago (around 2007) the company I worked for then held a national conference (week long piss up) at the Coolum Resort.

Slater was a guest speaker one afternoon and TBH, he spoke fantastically well.

He was one of may favourites cricketers in the 90's. To see how far he has fallen is incredible.

Judge Nicole Noman sentenced MacGill to a one-year-and-10-month intensive corrections order – to be served in the community – and ordered him to perform 495 hours of community service.

Seems a little harsh given other findings in the case. Not obtaining a benefit for example.

And this, I did not expect:

Judge Noman said that character references tendered by MacGill’s legal team – including one by former Australian Test captain Steve Waugh – spoke of his “exceptional skill” during his 44 Test career.

Surprisingly impersonal character reference from Waugh. Feel like anyone on this forum probably could have truthfully written the same things.
I expect they haven’t stayed in touch and have moved in very different circles for a while.

What bothers me almost as much as MacGill’s ridiculous outburst is that there is someone stupid enough to give him a platform to make it.

Ok, granted he is not in Slater’s stratosphere of c**khead because MOST of his destructive behaviour was probably hurting himself as much as anyone else but imagine if Slater found himself on a podcast. You’d laugh the co-host out of existence for giving Slater a microphone wouldn’t you?

Not even remotely close to the same level of Slater, agreed. Not here to defend Magill, as he's always seemed like an arrogant flog, but other than his incredible stupidity to get involved with drug dealers – which he got cleared of (?) – what's your other main issues with him? I mean, i guess this performance is prob enough to go on, but i don't remember other times he's flown off the handle like this

MacGill's latest podcast tirade was not only unnecessary. but it was totally unhinged. Definitely has a screw loose somewhere and needs to be sent to the bin of obscurity and fast!
incredibly unhinged. Co-host didn't say anything other than deride SAF crowd's boorish behaviour – so was a pretty bizarre tirade. Ironically it's only now brought the spotlight back on the subject. It's a long way from his interview on the Howie Games, which sounded like he may have been a changed man after the drug trafficking charges

He’s always given me the irrits a bit but when he sued CA for unpaid injury compo - which in itself wasn’t that big a deal - but tried to claim an extra $1 million in interest on top of $1.5 million or something in lost earnings - I thought that was a sign of a bit of real flogginess

What a tosspot. Its sad really, the drugs and his involvement with that crowd have done a number on his head.

He was on the howie games last year and he seemed fine, admitting he had made a lot of mistakes since retiring. Clearly he still has some problems

Theres a non zero chance it was all staged to boost the podcast's publicity
