Gram kicks more goals, and does more things creatively. He runs forward more often, gets more of his own ball and is, IMO a little more dangerous.

Mackie runs hard, and uses it well (albeit probably still not as well as Gram), but tends to be less daring with what he does, and relies more on marking and linking up to get his touches.

I'd have to take Gram.

Interesting to revisit Stephen Wells' assesment of Mackie just after selecting him with the Cats' 7th pick in the 2003(?) draft:

"a beautifully balanced running player"...

you'd have to say this was an uncanny insight at the time, given that Mackie has become pretty much exactly that. He is one of the best at presenting a free target and running forward of defence to anticipate the play for the Cats. In fact he has been the best at it for Geelong this year, particularly when the team has been playing average football. Also, despite a few bad games in terms of turnovers when he returned from injury earlier this year, he has excellent skills.

Mackie - The perfect example of just an average, soft, frontrunner whose team makes him look better then he really is.

Gram easilly

Mackie.. looks dangerous from what i've seen, I hope my boys don't find out the hard way on Friday week!!

I love that StKilda players are still overrated even though they are crap, the simple answer is Melbourne Media!

Apparently all our players are like that.
Makes me wonder if we actually had any decent players that got us a dominating premiership last year.

Have you watched Gram closely?
Gets outmarked 1 on 1 so easily its ridiculous.
Honestly never seen him go near a contested footy.
And when he is put under an iota of pressure he either coughs it up or sets up a team mate to get absolutely poleaxed!
I am not a huge Andrew Mackie fan but i would have Mackie 100X before Gram.

Gram for me.

Without trying to be biased.

Is far more creative and breaks the lines. Mackie doesn't do this as well as Gram.

Look at it this way.

Gram could easily fit into Mackie's role at Geelong but Mackie wouldn't be as valuable to the Saints.

Also helps Mackie when you have Wojincski as your side-kick as well.

Gram has more upside for mine.
