Sydney must have oodles of cap space left to offer Paddy $750k. After all, they have a pretty thin list, with no real bonafide stars, and very little up and coming talent...

Does he do enough as a KPF to warrant his price tag?

I wonder what his stats look like against time spent there.

He has kicked 19 goals in 20 games.

Wrong player, right concept.

Any Essendon player from that year can become a free agent now, so we could target whichever of them we want.

Who would we go for (realistically)? Probably not a star (e.g. don't say Heppell), but there would have to be good young options to target. Merrett? Myers? etv...

Hes not a list fit for us, plays his best football as the soul ruckman, meaning Witts and Grundy would be robbed of games.

We wont recruit a ruckman as good as Ryder, we will develop Witts and Grundy instead.

A Brent Renouf type on the rookie list will be handy.

Would need to plea guilty and take a reduced ban before I would be interested, saying that I don't want him. He can only play ruck and if he does Grundy and Witts will become dissatisfied and may look to go home. Wouldn't mind Carlisle though as he is a KPP not a ruck

Would love it if we poached one of their guys under this clause, and then he went in offered "substantial assistance", got a reduced penalty and buried Essendon once and for all regarding this affair. The lols would never stop.

In terms of list balance and the positions we need to target, ruck would be low on the list. Midfield and rebounding half bank would have to be the priorities when looking at mature recruits. Ryder would make zero sense for us.

I think Ryder's best position is in the ruck and I think he's too expensive ($ and impact on Witts & Grundy development) to warrant his recruitment. If we could just swap HL for Ryder (premiership player for high pick & talent) then I could bring myself to accept it in spite of concerns about the salary cap impact.:) Mind you, I'd then also seek to trade Ryder for something more appropriate. Can you trade someone the same trade period?:p

He will go to the Swans
Jokes aside, if they moved on Reid, they could probably fit him in.
Curious if Seedsfan was serious or tongue in cheek? Personally when media talk about Ryder going North, I struggle to see why Lions would want him when they have Martin playing well & have quality in Leunberger (although granted M&L both have had injury concerns) and Suns probably got several decent options, GWS have Mumford & Giles, Swans despite salary cap pressures have a big gap between Pyke and their number two.

No need for Ryder, we have Witts and Grundy coming through and Ryder goes missing far too much, doesn't provide enough leadership anyway for mine

Ryder can play in the forwardline, but not consistently, his best position would be ruck with a Leigh Brown type second ruck, so he can push into forwardline if its looking dull and his looking dangerous.

Would rather Jonathan Giles.

If he only plays "ruck" as his preferred option, why would Brisbane be into him after the season that Stefan Martin just gave them? Are they going to jettison Martin or Luenberger for Paddy?
