Mick obviously builds his teams around enormous tackling pressure, one wonders how those awesome Pies teams would have handled running around tackling like maniacs all day only to have the ball carrier roll it out to his mate who trots off and creates a goal.

We didnt kick to opposition doctors, for one thing.

I forgot
MM..... Garlett, Bootsma , Jamieson , Armfield, Rowe, Casboult and Kreuzer had 10 or less disposals.Murphy is excused for less than 10 due to an accident .
Bailey, Breust and Simpkin ( sub ) for the Hawks had less than 10 disposals for the game .
So you see MM you were out played .

Kreuzer was close to best on ground

They certainly succeded in keeping bruest quiet.

You wonder why its taken so long for opponents to be onto him

i thought he was playing under duress for most of the night, he got a niggle early in the game didn't he?, when rioli isn't there he gets the opposition's best small shut down defender, he isn't going to win the battle every week we just have to deal with that.

The AFL still haven't addressed this issue of runners and trainers in neutral attire for the game? Doesn't the Gold Coast runner wear red? HTF the AFL cannot assign each team official shirts in neutral colours for the day is beyond me, are they that tight with $? Malthouse can fume all he wants, once again the Blues failed to deliver when it counted and had a team on toast until the butter melted! He needs to direct his meltdowns at people like Chris Yarran rather than Matthew Richardson! Umpires, trainers and runners didn't cost Carlton this game.

Can Kreuzer, Jamison, Rowe and Casboult be excused for playing somewhere between 'pretty good' and 'excellent' games? Armfield wan't bad either; played on Birchall and kept him very quiet for three quarters.

Possession counts used to completely judge the performance of key position players, taggers and ruckmen...I swear, it's nearly time to give up. The punch from behind will be extinct in five years, because it doesn't get you a Dream Team point.

The umpiring has been fixed - its been fantastic for a couple of weeks.

I can't beleive the sooking here - there were a couple of dodgy calls but there is in any game. It didn't impact the result.

FFS the sooking... Carlton got done because Hawthorn are a better side.

People have to realise one thing: the umpiring is never going to be perfect. They're human beings - they have human interpretations and they make mistakes. ******* deal with it everyone.

They're always going to pay too many or not enough. I think most agree its best when they leave the contests alone and just pay the obvious ones.

It doesn't decide the game - the game is decided by which team is better, tougher, smarter and makes less errors. Last night that was Hawthorn.

You obviously didn't watch last night's game or the St Kilda v West Coast game last Sunday if you think the umpiring has been fixed and is fantastic.

Those two games were two of the worst umpired games I've ever seen, there was deliberate bias against Carlton and St Kilda which affected the results of both games.

The umpiring might be fantastic for teams like Essendon, Hawthorn and West Coast but teams like St Kilda and Carlton are still getting screwed.

I'm glad Malthouse spoke out because if people don't speak out the AFL will just keep getting away with this bullshit.

Great game! One of the better games i've seen all year.

I'm not too upset with the result, we've lost a lot of close games but we'll eventually learn to play 4 QTRS (Look at Freo last year under Lyon compared to this year).

It takes time, get over it, don't blame umpires.

Why in the hell would you kick it to someone who is wearing trousers?

Why in hell would you make this comment when the bloke was clearly wearing shorts?

And why in hell would 16 other nuffies like your comment? o_O

Shocking and why wasn't that a free and 50m penalty to Carlton for the runner interfering with play?

The umpires just pick and choose when to apply rules, no consistency whatsoever.

That's a good idea. If the AFL did start paying 50m penalties in that situation, then we could add the art of kicking the ball towards runners to earn a free kick to our existing repertoire of diving and ducking. :thumbsu:

that's Malthouse though, every press conference he did in the 90's at WC was like that. petulant sook.
And in those days there wasn't a journo in WA that was game to question him. In fact the chief football writer for the Worst Australian at the time was genuinely scared of him. The same bloke is now a State parliamentarian.

Runners wear light blue in GC and GWS games now.

That kick from Lucas is at least 15m from the Hawthorn medical staffer; it's actually closer to a carlton player then the medical staffer. If Lucas was aiming for the medical staffer then he couldn't hit the side of a barn with his left foot, or perhaps it was just a rushed kick downfield.

Clearly, neither incident there is comment worthy from a respected coach. However, then again if your just fishing for excuses and looking to deflect.

Yeah, because you want your teammate to be stationary when he receives the ball from you. Played the game much?
