Here are some facts worth considering:

1. Malthouse is able to get a fairly average bunch, Collingwood playing determined, disciplined, team-oriented and quite skilled football.

2. Ratten is unable to get a more talented, but still fairly average bunch, playing determined, disciplined, team-oriented football. And what we see every week is error ridden skills.

3. Malthouse is on the way out at Collingwood in favour of Buckley.

4. Ratten hasn't got the ruthlessness, nor coaching ability to take this mob past a top 4 spot.

My solution? Make Malthouse an offer too good to refuse. Sack Ratten (pay him off) and buy out Malthouse's contract at Collingwood and start him in 2010.

Some people would argue that Malty should have won more then two flags in the 90's with basically one of the strongest WA state squads ever and I concur ... He had champions like Matera, Kemp, Mainwaring, and Jakovich, and only to get 2 flags from that list is underachieving IMHO.

Another deluded baracker with no real idea. Yep what we want is a coach that has not been successful for more than a decade. Parkin has won a flag more recently than Malthouse. So lets just panic and change coaches every couple of years, and lets start with Malthouse, then we could get Sheedy, then Matthews, perhaps go back, cap in hand to Pagan.... and in a decade, after finishing in and out of finals but never winning a flag maybe then the impatient barackers of this world will understand that you have to build a winnning team and Ratts is doing just that.

I couldn't agree more, these shootouts are so frustrating, they are so annoying to watch, I would rather win ugly like the saints, pies and crows can, just grind down opponents and keep them to low scores, cos premierhip sides are built around good team defence

We can not win a premiership playing the type of football we do, cos team likes those I mentioned will be all over us and we never have a plan B, Rats has got a long, long way to go to improve in this area

Unfortunately for youse calling for Rats to be moved on, there's no way it will happen with the where we finished

It's one thing being a high scoring team and good on the attack, but it's another thing being able to restrict opponents, and we are so poor at it

Malthouse is a great coach, very consistent in getting the best out of his teams. You give him a piece of shit, and he'll make it good. Facts are facts, Collingwood have a handful of very good players, and they have a shitload of average ones, and yet, as a team they play very good football, so Malthouse is doing something right IMO.

My concern is that even though he won 2 flags in an era which completely differs to this one now, he hasnt managed to bring the pies to a flag. He made 2 grand finals, the first the pies did well but the second was a disaster, and malthouse got made to look very average.

As the young carlton players mature and learn, and lets not forget that we have many young players still in this team, Ratten is also learning. We are not premiership contenders, and even if we had Malthouse now as coach, that fact wouldnt change.

It's the intense man on man and tackling that forces free flowing teams (Adelaide were brilliant early) to start to make clangers. Adelaide made plenty last night when the real pressure was on.

Malthouse to coach Carlton asap if Ratten doesn't learn and learn quickly! Make him an offer too good to refuse.
