In today's paper, he shifted the blame of Carlton assistants getting the sack, as part of their 'end of year process', in which he had no bearing on at all.

Don't shit me Mick. Its been clear as day what you are doing.

It's so transparent. Puppet master pulling strings from afar refusing to get any blood on his hands.

Mick is fast developing a Dr Evil type villain persona in my mind.

Carlton Board : So Mick if you were "to" coach the blues, would you say, pick a new team under you?"
Mick :
Carlton Board : Contact HR and draw up the papers.

Really don't understand the vitriol directed at Mick.

But the rumor about him potentially signing on Jakovich to coach gave me a hearty laugh. Please make this happen.

I agree, walking out on west coast to join collingwood and walking out on collingwood...oh wait

No probs with people shifting employers in their line of work mate.

Did Mick ever claim that "he will never coach against his (WC) kids"? Did he walk out on a deal that he signed? Create drama in his final year? Did he undermine his successor?

Have we now established that the Collingwood situation was slightly different?

Peace.

Can't understand the hate here for a guy who gave 11 years of blood sweat and tears to your club, delivered 4 grand final appearances, 8 finals appearances, a premiership and left your club in a state where it can still make the top 4. Particularly since Collingwood hadn't played finals for 6 years prior to him taking over as coach and particularly that he wanted to stay at Collingwood but was sacked by the board/President. The powers to be at Collingwood didn't want Malthouse, we were glad to take him. If you're going to get angry, get angry at those responsible for making sure MM was not at Collingwood this year. He turned your club from easy beats in the mid to late 90s to a powerhouse that everyone wanted to model their club/team around. I'd gladly take Collingwood's years under Malthouse than our last 12 years that's for sure! If you can't respect him, it's hard to see how you can ever respect any one.

That being said, I can't wait for Collingwood V Carlton next year, it's going to be massive! Hopefully we can crack 90,000 for that one. Possibly the biggest non finals appearance in Carlton's and Collingwood's history.

Tony Shaw was not as successful as Mick Malthouse as a coach but I have respect for him.

Mick burned a lot of bridges this year and last, and somehow managed to devalue his contribution to the CFC.

And please remember nobody sacked him...

Post #610 from this thread by OLD SPICE gives a perfect summation of the feelings towards Malthouse and the type of person that he is.

Too long to quote, so check it out if you get a spare moment.

p.s. fact lesson- he was not sacked, he walked. In fact middle of 2009 he signed a 5 year contract well before he became a premiership coach.

I've always wondered about this. If he hadnt agreed to the replacement plan what would have happen? You know was it an offer he couldn't refuse or would he just carried as normal?.. Was he told basically you have 2 years left like it or leave?
Serious question?

Not sure if he was pressured to agree. Apparently the club was concerned about his wellbeing at the time and as such developed a succession plan.

He could have said I'll take the next 2 years and then you can appoint whoever you like. This is all hypothetical mind you.

The way he carried on in 2011 grates just as much as his refusal to publicly acknowledge Buckley in any positive way in 2012.

If he left with dignity I'd be happy for him; but he made it all about his bitter self. This is the last time I take the time to post about the guy. Malthouse - whatever.

Buckley Vs MM in coming years will be a pretty good extra side-show in the circus!

Mick himself was running low at that stage, to the point where is manager and Eddie were concerned, which drew the focus of the infamous succession plan.

We end up becoming elite, he gets his mojo back and everything goes pear shaped from there.

Now we'll have to hear from MM himself for the next three years how good he is.

Don't care anymore that his a Pies premiership coach. Going to that scum has wiped away that for me. I think he just wants to get back at Eddie tbh. Would laugh so loud if it backfired on him.

Gotta love Mick being caught out in a lie, AGAIN.

This time in relation to Alan Richardson.

Says Richardson had an issue with an assistant coach at Collingwood. Richardson says, uh no Mick, I had the problem with you. Now Richardson is gone from Carlton. He he.

God damn I'm glad Mick is gone.

So Carlton pay out Ratten & 3 assistants, whilst paying Mick 3 million?

They better hope they start to succeed, otherwise that debt bill will continue to rise.
